Hello Friends,

I would like to help with the PCC certificate obtaining process from Surat

PCC is required by US immigration department.

PROCESS IS AS UNDER ( FOR SURAT CITY)

Gather below listed documents (2 set , true copies)

1. PCC requirement letter issued by USA immigration/embassy

2. photo copy of passport front and back side

3. Leaving certi or Birth Certi

4. Marriage Certi

5. Resident Proof: light bill, gas bill, tax bill, telephone bill, ration card, bank passbook (any two from these list)

6. ID proof: Driving Licence, PAN card, voted ID card ( any one from these)

7. SIX passport size photos.

Once you gather these documents, Go to Police Commissioner Office, Opp: Chopati, Athvalines, Surat

On ground floor, go in side passport facility office and Meet Mr. RAMESH DADA (a senior officer and very friendly nature)

Ask him to provide PCC application form, fill up form and submit him along with all the documents listed above.

He will take care for the rest of process. and you will be granted PCC within a week.

( I did this procedure as on 18th April 2012 successfully after a lot of headache) Now you guys can do this easily.

Thanks & Regards,

Hello Mr Dipak,

Thank you for posting the details, it definitely helped us understand what we needed to take with PCC. We filled out the PCC application form online. We were not able to find any appointments so so my brother-in-law just went there. He took the printout of the online application form along with the documents suggested by mr Dipak and we were able to get Passport PCC from Surat office the same day. I hope this helps anyone who'll be looking for this info in future.

Hi Guys,

I am now in the process of getting a PCC for my spouse who is in Surat, India. Is the PCC a separate document they issue? Apparently she was told that they now put some kind of stamp on the passport itself showing that she has a PCC, and it has a start and end date. Can anyone attest to that who is from Surat?

Thanks,

Hey, am not from Surat, but i recently got my PCC from Rajkot PSK; so basically its bound to be same because both the PSK fall under the Ahmedabad Passport Office.

The process Mr. Dipak originally posted has changed now, since there are Passport Seva Kendra which handle everything. You no longer have to visit commissioner's office cause PSK forwards your application to them. The commissioner's office then forwards it to your local police station; wherein you either have to visit them with 2 witnesses( the ones you mentioned while filling the application for pcc on http://www.passportindia.gov.in ) or a police will come to your mentioned address. They write a letter, take yours and witnesses signature, and when completed it is forwarded back to comissioner and back to PSK.

Psk then texts/e-mail you that your PCC is ready and you have to visit PSK again ( usually after 10-15days from your first visit to psk).

You have to carry your passport and an acknowledgment letter that they give you on your first visit.

They will give you 2 same original PCC Papers ( wherein there is your picture, and a note that there is no pending case bla bla and free to travel to US); also they will stamp in your passport that on this day your were issued PCC for USA.

EDIT : PCC is valid for 6 months from the day it was issued.

Here is the process posted by another indian member and it matches with mine too! smile.png

Hope I didnt confuse you tongue.png and was helpful! biggrin.png

Procedure for applying PCC - (My personal experience)

  • Log into site http://www.passportindia.gov.in
  • Register through the Passport Seva Portal. (Click on "Register" link under the Online Application Filling section on the Home Page).
  • Login to the Passport Seva Portal with the User ID created as above
  • Click "Apply for Police Clearance Certificate" link.
  • Fill in the required details in the form and submit.
  • Choose Alternative 1
  • After filling in all the details, VALIDATE & SAVE it on your DESKTOP (its easier to upload later on)
  • Go to Alternative 1 again & select "Click here to upload the form" & upload the file you have saved on your desktop
  • Then go to Applicant Home page. Select "View Saved/Submitted Applications"
  • Select the saved application & take a printout of Application Receipt

Now with this printout you just have to walk into your nearest Passport office or Passport Seva Kendra during 9am to 11am ONLY. Take the token number & just follow the instructions. I was amazed to see the smooth process without any confusion at the Passport Seva Kendra. My nearest point was Hubli, Karnataka.

Documents you need to carry is just a photocopy of your passport with your signature & your original Passport. The fee is Rs. 500 & has to be paid at the passport office only. Just walk in with this preparation, rest they will take care of. I had taken a copy of my NOA2 letter, but they didn't even bother to see that. I hope it helps.
