which type of visa is easier to process and apply for

Hi, I am new to this forum.

Me and my fiance are planning to apply for the fiance visa in February 2013 (because I'm still studying my last year at university).

I know this is a very hard question to answer but I'm just wondering which type of visa is easier to process and apply for: Spouse Visa or Fiance Visa (K1)? Especially when me and my fiance are still young (I'm turning 21 and he's turning 20 this year). Will it affect our visa application?

Hope to hear some answers soon! Thank you!

same difference from what I have seen...but for the CR-1 visa, you would have to get a marriage license in Vietnam which can be a headache...

To quotes a movie, “So how does it happen, great love? Nobody knows... but what I can tell you is that it happens in the blink of an eye. One Moment you're enjoying your life, and the next you're wondering how you ever lived without them.” I felt I found something with Kieu that is rare in life... true love.

The consulate in Vietnam does not accept co-sponsors for K1 visas. Since you are still in university are you able to show proof of income that exceeds 125% poverty level for 2 people?

If not, a CR1 marriage visa is your only option, provided that you can get a co-sponsor. A marriage license in Vietnam takes a long time and you are more or less required to be there for the duration.

I'd say that if he had to use a co sponsor. K1 was a piece of cake. 2 trips and 10 months from the day of filing, my fiancee was home with me.

OP CR1 is easier and cheaper in the long run but K1 gets you with your SO faster so it is up to you. My opinion is to go the CR1 route because it will save you a lot of money in the long run. The marriage liscense is a pain to get but once you get it everything will run semi-smoothly.

you're the vn national beneficiary and he's the USC petitioner? seems like an odd question to me, maybe come back next year to see if you guys are serious then worry about it. 21 and 20...awfully young to get hitched do you even realize the commitment you're making? if your SOLE purpose is to get to the US as fast and with the least amount of work as possible, then do the K-1 fiance visa, but he will need to show enough income by himself (no co-sponsor).

...and yes i'm being skeptical and pre-judging the relationship. i've seen many song and dance similar to this question before.

K-1 is easier, but you'll have to provide Affidavit of Support on your own. No joint sponsor. So find a job that meets the current Poverty Guide Line.
