First time I heard that one. My wife was one month pregnant when she went for her interview and notified the agent that she was in an attempt to get her paperwork faster and it worked out. She received her visa the same month as her interview.

Thats what a friend told me happened with his wife. I would like to see my child come into this world, but by the time my wife goes to the interview I guess she will be around 8 months pregnant. And I heard airlines dont let pregnant women fly when they almost going to give birth to their child.

No, that is not the normal procedure but the process takes longer than six months unless you are REALLY lucky. Expect the child to be born abroad. Then, you'll need to do a Consular Report of Birth Abroad to get the child a US passport.

Where a visa might be delayed due to impending birth shortly after the interview is when the Consulate is questioning the parenthood of the child and wants DNA tests.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

I'm not sure where you got 6 months, but you'd be lucky to be done with this entire process in 6 months.

On average, it takes about 5 months to get an I-130 approval after sending it in, so in your case, around September...

On average, it takes about 2 months to get through NVC, so, in your case, around November...

And I don't know El Salvador waiting times from case complete at NVC to interview date, but I'll take the average of 2 months (common for most consulates/embassies), so, in your case, the interview would be around January...

In total, about 9 months. Unfortunately, it looks like your wife is going to have your baby there.

Carlos503, I would call the USCIS to request an expedite on your case. Explain them your wife's situation if she is going through any hardships because of you not being with her, and why she needs to be with you (or you need to be there when the child is born). You will have to write a letter from your self and would be a good idea to go through your congressman when submitting the documents. It might work, but certainly doesn't hurt trying.

I had a high risk pregnancy and was able to get by husband's case expedited based on that.

Good luck

I feel like he could try that but only if she's high risk.... if it were that easy to get cases expedited based on pregnancy then EVERYONE would get pregnant.

Another issue is the medical in case she requires a chest x-ray to check for TB. Depending on what version of the panel physician instructions El Salvador uses she can ask for the chest x-ray to be waived OR there is no option to waive it and she'll have to decide whether to have the x-ray while pregnant, or wait until after she's given birth to get the x-ray and then the visa.

Thanks to all for your replies. I dont think my wife has a high risk pregnancy. I just would like to be with her and I know she needs me. And yeah it does takes longer than 6 months :(. Saludos paisanos de El Salvador :-) It would be great to have a congress representative help, but I guess that would help only when there is a high risk pregnancy casa. If my child gets born abroad I will have to go to El Salvador to petition my child as a US citizen. OMG more $$$$ to spend :D

I don't know if you looked into the CRBA stuff but not every country requires you to be in country to do it. My friend had her CRBA stuff done in Australia while her ex-fiance was still in the US. He had to sign some forms but that was about it.
