G.C. holder applying for mother?

Hello to all,

As of a few months ago my wife and I finished this process (what a mess) and she now has her green card. Since everything is over with (more or less), I'm a bit out of the loop and I've forgotten some things. Is it possible for a green card holder to apply for a parent? Is there any likely/possible way for a G.C. holder to bring a parent to the US? The thing is that my wife's mother is alone and it would be really nice to have her come along to the U.S. Is this possible? Thanks for reading, and I appreciate any help and responses.

Oops, I think I posted in the wrong forum, moving now.

No. Only US citizens can petition for parents.

She has no friends or other family members?

She can seek to visit.

Thanks for the information RICARDO, although it is sad.

No, unfortunately.

If she requests a tourism visa won't they assume she would overstay? Age is not a factor? The mother being dependent on the G.C. holder would not be a factor? Is there any consideration for a family member of a G.C. holder or would it just be a lottery visa? Because in El Salvador that translates into "impossible".

All we know about her is that she is your Wife's Mother and has no Friends or Family.

By the sound of it she does not have a US B Visa either.

The Lottery is certainly an option.

ditto, only USC can file for parents, so she will have to wait until she becomes a citizen. her mother can apply for a tourist visa. that's all.

Getting a tourist visa with no ties (family, job, property) back home will be difficult, but it does happen. It's only about $100 to apply, so if you / she has the money, worth a try.
