Okay, am I trying to run before I can walk?

DMV wouldn't give me my drivers licence in my married name because my primary ID (passport) is in my maiden name.

Bank won't let us have a joint account in my married name without US ID, and SSN with married name.

Frustrated!

Do I just wait for the EAD and use that as primary ID and get my SSN at the same time?

What are others doing about this? Please help!

Upon getting my DL, I represented/required my SSN (in my married name). So apply for an SSN first ... Goodluck!

.... it looks like you're in Florida so it's worth noting that the Orlando DMV sent me away first time and told me to come back with my spouse's birth certificate. Grrrr. Might be worth putting it in your batch of papers with the marriage certificate - can't do any harm.

Good luck!

You don't really have anything to say you are authorized to stay in this country yet. You are adjusting from VWP. You are just a tourist who might even be in over-stay mode by now. If you had a K1 visa, that would have allowed a SSN. When you get EAD, you'll have USCIS proof of a year authorized that may get you a license that expires in a year. (Each state has different rules) When you get a greencard, everything will fall into place.

Yeah I had it with me when I got my current licence, fortunately. I mean, I had my marriage licence and my NOA's I nearly fell over when they asked for his birth cert, fortunately I just took EVERYTHING... I'll just wait for the SSN and go back and change the name later. Nightmare!

They were happy to give me a years DL based on the documents I had. Just not to put it in my married name. Hey ho! I'm learning to be patient but it's a tough lesson to learn as I'm a control freak... *deep breaths* Things will settle. Being to wake up with my husband in the mornings makes it worthwhile.
