Surely the chance of them losing the petition after the NOA1 but before the NOA2 isn't 0. It is sent from the Texas lock box to the service center after all. Or is the NOA1 sent from the service center, not the sorting facility?

My NOA1 came in an envelope with a Vermont return address, which makes me think it came directly from the service center.

Looking at your timeline, it really doesn't seem like you have nothing to worry about yet. You show CSC as your processing center, so chances are your petition is there as stated by your NOA1. Look at the date on you NOA1, then at the K1 processing times for CSC and then wait for the estimated processing period to be over. If all is in order, your petition will most likely be approved before within the CSC target time. If it's not, then you can contact your congressman and ask for a congressional inquiry. Sadly, this process is a waiting game and it will test the strength of your relationship. As for lost petitions, I am trying to remember if that has ever happened to someone here and drawing a blank. If you haven't try opening an account on the USCIS page and signing up for text and e-mail updates.

If I wanted to make sure the petition I sent wasn't lost, how would I do that? An InfoPass?

You just filed the petition last month, You need to give them some time to process it. I would recommend reading other timelines so you know how long it will take. Relax and enjoy the ride... lol patience

I sent mine in at the end of December and there isnt a reply for mine either. You can look at the processing time tab that shows the average time for each center like the CSC for K1. I've been keeping track using the immigration timelines info and just sorting it out by the service center used. This is how you can guess when there will be an NOA2. And yes it does seem like certain countries take precedance over others due to the high fraud rates. No one states whether or not the military expedite proceedure is used by the petitioner, if it be the case. If country does matter even though it is never stated anywhere, your fiance is coming from a high fraud place just like mine.

I bookmarked this to get an even better understanding:

OP - your making sure petition isn't lost will do nothing more that put more work on people that are adjudicating them, delaying your and others approval. Do you really want to do that taking into consideration you are probably not going to get any different answer than you would get yourself looking up case status on-line ?

It isn't lost. You have the NOA1, they have it. It is in a box with many others. Some months from now they will open the box and your petition will be adjudicated a few minutes after that.

Local offices do not handle petitions and have no information other than what you have. They would look at the same system online that you do.

If you are getting nervous becuse the online upsate system is not working showing any progress, that's normal and common. Alla is a citizen yet our petition still says "initial review" and has never had a "touch"

No it won't. Adjudicators adjudicate. They do not answer questions, they do not answer telephones. He can call all he wants and it will not affect anyone else's petition. The people who answer the phone are not even employed by USCIS and are no where near the Service Center.

You are correct he will not get any different answer.

It isn't zero. It is less than your chances of being killed in a car accident today though.

Your petitin has been there just over ONE MONTH. Do not expect anything to happen for 5 months minimum. They receive your petition, pack it in a box and send it to the Service Center. It remains in the box until a few minutes before it is adjusicated and either approved or you get an RFE.

Isn't the 5 months more of a target date than an actual minimum? You seem to know a lot about this topic anyway because you do post a lot. But realistic he shouldn't be expecting anything within the 3 months after the NOA1 since he is not expediting. From the timelines, it seems the CSC average is actually closer to the 5 month mark for the NOA2... both the average processing date and the fact that most now NOA2 seem to fall before early November for NOA1.

Yes it is a target. Most stress (such as this) is caused by unrealistic expectations. 5 months is more realistic and if nothing happens then I would say to wait another 60 days. If something happens in 3 months he will be happy, not stressed.
