Gives me an excuse to look around.. I was born in vancouver and haven't seen it in over a decade. My fiance will probably come up to help ease my nerves and as "living" proof so maybe I can be nostalgic and show him where I used to live. :P

Will the no charge for MMR apply if I go to a travel clinic?

I didn't pay for MMR when I got it at a travel clinic in Vancouver. I had my vaccination record to show I only had 1 shot, thus the 2nd was covered by MSP. I guess it may depend where you go, but it should be free.

You should be fine on the flu shot thing, Flu season is officially over in the US.

Except the government has their own ideas about these things. Saylin was jabbed at her medical this time last year.

My doctor insisted I get an MMR when I saw her for an appointment and told her I was immigrating. Smart, informed lady she is :) It was free.

the CDC says flu season is over on March 31st of every year, unless there is a pandemic. There were very few cases of flu this year, and I'm surprised a Civil Surgeon gave a flu shot this late in the year.

Yeah, I think I'd rather just get boosters as I had my first blood test last year and almost passed out when I got antsy. So no panel in Calgary? I wish it were more obvious online but I thought it said there was one.. Hopefully I can book the appointment for that right before my interview. Good to know!

You'll have to give blood at the immigration medical, just as an FYI so you can prepare!

Did they make the flu shot a requirement for all ages? When I had my medical a few years back it was only for those 50 years or older.

Also - you can check with your public health unit for vaccine records. They had all of mine and it was good because the records my Mom kept were missing a shot and the public health record had the missing shot listed.
