just out of curiosity, what happened to you all? Are you still waiting for the F2B to be current?

The reason I'm asking, because I (US citizen) applied for my mom's GC. She got her GC in January 2016. Her IR5 was approved in August 2015. In October 2015, we submitted the I-130 for my brother (at that time he was 20 yrs and 4 mths old) under F2A. USCIS approved his I-130 on 11/13/2015 (PD of 10/22/2015). Obviously, it will take couple years for F2A to be current at which time he'll be 23 yrs old. So, did you all got "bumped" to F2B?

I'm curious to how yours goes. I have a similar scenario and possibly timeline with my mom and my sis. However, her I-130 is not approved yet. It was just received and in process. Did you get an approval letter?

You have to find out, when your petition was approved, if you are qualifying under CSPA or not. F2B will add you +5 years.

No, welcome letter is when they already open your case for further processing before your PD will become current. Approval letter is the 2nd Notice of Action I-797, USCIS sent letting you know, that your case been approved and sent to NVC. This time, counting from your PD till your mom received approval letter is important for you, which will add an extra time.

If my mum(LPR) in the US filled for me(am in Ghana) under F2A and I have now been moved to F2B can I move back to F2A when my mum gains citizenship status?

Don't think, that her citizenship status would help you, as you are already 22 and she doesn't have it yet. It is considered, that you aged out and your case will be proceeded under F2B, if you qualify under CSPA, then you'll remain in F2A. As I mentioned before, you have to find out when your case has been approved.

1st of all ask your mom, when your petition was approved. If it'll be less than one year from petition was filed, then you won't qualify under CSPA and will be proceeded as F2B and you won't be able to do anything just to follow this category.

I mean it would add you an extra time, for instance your PD June 2015, if your petition was approved in January 2016, then add +6 months to your 21. You wouldn't qualify as you are already 22, but that's just speculation, as you don't know the details, but hope you got the idea.
