I have genuine meetings for work in Phoenix. I will be meeting my colleagues there. I am not going for job interviews. My company has clients all over the world including the US. My company have paid for my flights and my hotel.

Well then it's no secret to your boss that you are going to the US. There is no reason you can't say to him you read about a guy who got questioned when entering and you'd like a letter on letterhead explaining that you are meeting with business colleagues in the US and will be returning to work in the UK on [date] in case you get a grumpy officer.

The purpose of your trip? Business.

The address?? Hotel name in Phoenix.

Are you going anywhere else? Yes, I plan to visit Vegas while I'm here.

Where are you staying in Vegas? 137 Pine Street.

Answer the questions but don't tell your whole life story unless they specifically ask.

Who lives at 137 Pine Street? My fiance.

You're probably not going to be asked more than the first question.

I don't want to "steal" your post but I have a related question to the topic: visiting while waiting for NOA2. I might be going visiting my fiance' next week (last minute decision!) and I will be having, obviously, a return ticket and a letter from university stating I am enrolled as a full time student, at my 3rd year and expected to be back in September 2012. If I go to see him, it will be for 2wks and half, do you think as a proof would be enough?

I also have an exam on 26th april, so I would be definitely back, cos missing my exam would mean failing to pass this year..

I have a rent contract which expires on 30th april as I have agreed with my landlord to go on a monthly basis as he knows I will be moving out eventually sometimes this year, so I feel that the rent contract doesn't proof much of a financial tie.

what else could I use as a further proof?

I am going to find out this thursday!! I am bringing with me:

- letter from university stating I am a full time student since 2009 up to june 2013 (altho I will be graduating this june 2012)

- print out from university website abt my exam on 26th april 2012

- scanned copy of noa1

- booking of flight tickets from edinburgh to italy on 8th may (prior arrangements to visit family in Italy)

I hope that will be enough since it will be a stay for only 2wks and half. I will let you all know how it went!

Hey Vjers,

just wanted to updated you all.

I made it to Anchorage, last night, arrived safe and sound despite 2hr delay on the flight London-Seattle. Luckily I kept a good 3h and half in between the last connection. That gave me just enough time to go through immigration and customs and catch the flight to Anchorage.

POE was quite easy, only our flight in the queue, had to wait approx 30mins for my turn but I was through in like 5 mins.

This is what I got asked and my answers

- purpose of my travel = holiday

- have you got ESTA copy = handed it over to him

- who's there in Alaska = my fiance

- how long you are staying = 18 days

- have you got a return ticket = yes, would you like to see it, but he didn't

- have you still got a job? = I am a full time student

- you are not planning to stay, are you? = no, I have an university exam on 26th april

that was all, I might have missed something but I was slightly nervous although it all went smoothly.

So, yayyy, now I am here for a couple of wks :D
