still in AOS status, are we eligible to get a fishing license? any experience?

Yes, the only question is whether your state would consider you a resident or non-resident for the pricing of the license. Check with your state fish and game department. In most states you will find that if you show can show some identifcation of residency, even a utility bill wiht name or bank account they will consider you a resident.

This is not an immigration issue.

I'm not sure what state you are in, but in Texas, no license is needed to fish in any state park. I would venture to guess that some other states do the same. It has been like that here for several years.

Iowas fishing regsFrom the Iowa DNR web site. Basically you need to be a Iowa resident for 90 days to qualify for a resident fishing license, less that that you have to buy a non resident license.

Resident means a natural person who meets one of the following criteria.

1. Has physically resided in this state as the persons principal and primary residence or domicile for period of not less than 90 consecutive days immediately before applying for or purchasing a resident license and has an Iowa drivers license or non operators ID. Factors to determine the domicile include but are not limited to place of employment, mailing (street) address, utility records, real estate records, vehicle registrations, and addresses listed on the state and federal income tax records.

Try going to Wal-Mart, I got my hunting/fishing license from there. I only provided my SS card, at first they asked me for proof of residency such us utility bills or any receipt that has my name on it but I didn't have any. The guy was nice enough to sell me one, I guess.

You will have better chances of getting one for sure since you are already doing your AOS. I am not even married yet, my fiance just told the guy that I live with him and all our utility bills are under his name. Then the guy just said that he could make it work.
