Hi all,

My husband and I are currently living together in Illinois, but we will be moving to Michigan in July for my husband to complete a year of training there. In August, I will be moving back to Illinois for grad school for two years. After his training ends in June 2013, my husband will move back to Illinois. In the meantime, he will drive 4 hours to see me during weekends, and I will drive to Michigan during my longer breaks to be with him.

I got my conditional green card in Feb 2011, and will be required to file I-751 in November this year. My concern is this: should I enter different addresses for the both of us? Or pick one and stick with it? We will be leasing in both places, and will hopefully have both our names on both leases. Has anyone ever encountered a situation like this? I feel like entering two different addresses will raise red flags.. I notice that on the I-751, there is a blank to enter an address for the spouse, and another blank for myself separately. I'm not sure what to do.. any advice will be much appreciated.

You need to put the address you will be at because you will get your mail at it and you will have your biometrics taken at your local office and any interview will happen at your local office.

If you put his address all mail will go to him not you - you will have to drive 4 hours for a biometric appointment and for an interview if you have one.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Yes, but is it okay to just put my address on the I-751 form? Do you guys recommend explaining all of this to them in a letter, or letting USCIS call us up for an interview if necessary? I mean, my husband plans to visit me every weekend.. we'll just be living apart weekdays so that he can work, and I can go to school. And this is only temporary.. for about a year. Also, there is a separate blank for my husband's address -- should I just put my Illinois address there since he will be here weekends anyway?

I suggest you somehow let USCIS know that there are TWO PRIMARY ADDRESSES, and 'where you are' varies by time.

then

have a 'primary address' set for YOUR correspondence.

Explain all in a letter attached to the package.

PS - have a found a good place for curry laksa recently? The one here shut about 3 months ago :(

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I would put a brief letter in, nothing too long or wordy.

It is probably best to put the addresses where you guys officially reside. Different addresses don't matter as long as you have a good explanation for living somewhere else. Your situation is temporary and it makes sense to live apart allowing him to attend training. Try to gather as much evidence of the weekend trips as you can as you would be able to proof he's visiting you a lot while living apart. Makes things a lot easier in future interview(s).
