AOS package refused

Everything was going fairly smoothly til I filed my AOS package.

I sent the I864EZ with only one year tax returned and attached W2. They sent back saying that they needed W2 + 1040's. Which I sent back.

I recieved another notice saying that they need Federal income tax returns, literal printouts from the IRS (RTFTP) or a Letter 1722 issued by IRS. I dont even know what this is.... ? I am getting so frustrated that all I can do is cry. I am so close but this has now been sent back twice - has this happneed to anyone else?

I think....and someone correct me if I'm wrong, they are asking for tax transcripts which are free of charge from the IRS.

Yes it has, and as the guides here on VJ say, tax transcripts are the "preferred" document to send for taxes.

You can order your tax return transcripts online from the IRS website http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=232168,00.html

They're free and they should come within 10 days max.

If you want the transcripts right away, you can also go to your local IRS office.

Call the IRS and request your 2010 Tax Return Transcript, ask for it to be sent via fax, this can then be forwarded to NVC instead of waiting the traditional 14 days for the mail to arrive.

By the way should I be ordering 2009, 2010, 2011?? 2012 is not even an option. I am assuming I need to have been done with taxes this year to order the 2011 transcript right? soRRY this is all a little confusing.

Correct! You really only need the 2010 Tax transcript. unless you have filed your 2011 tax return, and if so then instead of the 2010 you would request the 2011. But if you are getting the 2010, additionally you should forward them a copy of your 2011 W-2, a letter from your employer and the maybe your last 6 months of pay stubs. I think its always better to send the government more info, so they won't come asking for more.

This document is just a transcription of your tax return, so you can't have it yet for 2012, you'll only file your 2012 taxes in the begining of 2013

If you have already filed your tax return for 2011, then you can order 2011, but I guess it depends when you sent it since I think there's a delay after filing before you can obtain a return. You should probably call and ask if it's available. If not, order 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Do not fax them to NVC, have them faxed or mailed to YOU.

W2s are only requested if you're sending a copy of your 1040 in lieu of your tax return transcript (which is not a good idea as we can see from the OP's situation).

Thanks! So let's say I do not finish soon with my 2011 taxes and want to send AOS, it would be totally okay to send 2008, 2009, 2010. NVC would accept this??

I sent my stuff last week they received it on Wednesday and everything that I stated in my prior post is what I sent to them, on Friday my case was done. I did not have a problem and no RFE was created. They are now in the process of scheduling my interview. 2010 Tax transcript doesn't show that you are still employed and that you had income for the last year.
