Traveling domestically with EAD?

I've received my EAD a few days ago, applied for SS yesterday, and I have to wait until I get the SS card to apply for a Non-driver ID... but I have to flight from NYC to Miami on the 14th.

I don't think I will have my ID by then, so I was wondering if I can use the EAD to board a plane? In theory it should be fine since it's government issued, but I wonder if the TSA officers will even know what it is, and it's not mentioned on their website. Any experiences flying with EAD?

Dec 6th 2011(day 0): Sent AOS package
Dec 12th (day 6): Appt received
Dec 15th (day 9): Received txts/emails

Feb 17th 2015: Card production ordered

Feb 26th 2015: 10 year green card received

Yes, use your passport and bring copies of your NOA1s in case. TSA don't check immigration status - they check identity.

Is your ticket in a different name than what is on your passport? Is the name on your ticket the same as on your EAD?

I have the same name in the passport, EAD and ticket. I wanted to avoid using the foreign passport because I've heard some people having problems with that. I just think something from the US government would be easier.

I have the same name in the passport, EAD and ticket. I wanted to avoid using the foreign passport because I've heard some people having problems with that. I just think something from the US government would be easier.

In this case it would probably make it more complicated. Use the passport.
