Santorum fishing for Democratic votes: Nothing wrong with that?

So, what about the delegates?

With his victory in Arizona, Romney was undoubtedly the winner on the delegate front tonight, although it is still unclear how many delegates he picked up. As we noted before, Michigan awards most of its delegates proportionally by Congressional districts. But election results are reported by county, so we are still waiting for an official delegate count from Michigan.

In the meantime, a rough comparison of the two maps indicates that Santorum will win at least two Congressional districts (the 2nd and 3rd) and likely pick up the 6th District as well.

Romney looks like he has a lock on five districts (the 9th, 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th), and looks likely to win the 8th District as well. That leaves five districts (10 delegates) up for grabs.

That puts Romney's delegate total for the night at 43 (29 for Arizona + 12 in Michigan + 2 for winning Michigan's popular vote). Santorum finishes with six delegates.

Yep.

He is so much an empty suit, a confirmed political weathervane of a flip-flopper, and almost everywhere perceived as the embodiment of the 1% that he is probably not much of a threat to Obama's re-election! As bad as Romney would be for the country, Santorum would be an absolute nightmare! GWB on steroids!

Santorum represents the American Taliban. He would indeed be a disaster. But that's not gonna happen.

Mitt's odds shot up from 74% to 82% in the last 24 hours. He will challenge Obama in November. It'll be interesting to watch him trying to explain to America who he really is, whether he really stands for anytyhing and, if so, what that might be. Plus, as he pulls back to the center - which he has to if he wants to win - he'll pizz off the GOP. It's a steep climb for him.

By all accounts, Mitt was a very good governor in Massachusetts. If the GOP really does nominate him (like it now seems they will), they will have done the electoral process a huge favor by putting up someone actually worth voting for. If Obama loses to Romney, I won't really mind all that much. Romney's a good guy. Evidence: Romneycare.

Executives are malleable by necessity. At least he won't have to learn how to deal with a hostile legislature, something Obama has yet to accomplish, and most governors figure out first time their budget proposals don't pass the laugh test.

Yeah, which is why it's so important (to me) that Democrats keep the Senate. Thank you, Senator Snowe. You've been a great help.

With a Democratic Senate and a Republican House, a malleable Romney could be a pretty good President.
