Birth certificate, medical certificate: When to send

Hi all, I am planning on sending in my AOS and I-130 package next week. I do have most of the documents required, but then I also need a couple of clarifications.

1) I do not have a birth certificate as such. I am from India and I did not really need a birth certificate till now, since my date of birth was extracted from school records. As such, I only have my passport and my original school records as proof, but I am planning to get an original birth certificate from the Indian consulate in NY. My question is, should I send in the birth certificate too along with the package or send in the package first and then apply for the birth certificate later?

2) At what stage of the process should one get the medical examination done? I am getting conflicting inputs on this, some say I should send in the medical certificate along with the package itself, others say I can wait till the AOS is approved. Any thoughts on this?

Any help, however big or small, will be most welcome. Happy luck to all those who are already midway through the process.

You need to send both same time with the application. Please read the guideline and instructions well before sending anything.

Don't send the package without the medical. It will only end up delaying the process... make the appointment with a civil surgeon asap and send the papers once you have everything together.

Your AOS cannot be approved without the medical, so whoever gave you that advice is crazy. You need to send the completed medical in the sealed envelope the civil surgeon gives you with your initial submission. Also send in the birth certificate with the initial submission. Neglecting to send any required document with the original package will result in delays, and possible denial if you are not able to get the required document in time.

Do you have someone in India who can get a copy of your birth certificate and mail it to you? Indian consulates are notorious for slow service and losing things.
