GOOD MORNING TO ALL! :)

DOES ANYONE KNOW AT WHAT POINT MY FIANCE WILL BE ABLE TO RETURN TO HIS COUNTRY (FOR A WEDDING) AFTER MARRYING ME IN THE STATES?

I HAVE NO CLUE HOW LONG HE HAS TO STAY PUT IN THE USA.

THANKS, COREY

Need to marry and file for the AOS right away, once he receives his GC (approx 4-6 months) then he is free to travel

In theory, although Im not an expert here, once you file for AOS after marriage, there's Advance Parole you can add too (along with EAD), that usually should take up to 3months to receive. With that he would be able to travel without having to wait for the GC.

Some more expert VJ members might be able to be more specific or correct me if I am wrong.

Since you have no clue, (I do not mean that in a negative sense) start

here and read the "Guides." Reading the guides will give you a good understanding of what you need to do next.

Your fiance will need to have a Green Card or Advanced Parole before he leaves the country. When you read the guides

this will make more sense to you.

ok thanks guys!

and to be honest, the wedding will actually be OURS!!

we're planning and UNOFFICIAL ceremony and reception in costa rica so that his friends and family can participate.

we have the date set for the july 21st but he just received notice from the US embassy on how to apply, so we're thinking he'll be getting his visa a lot sooner than we'd expected! if that's the case, i'd like to bring him over here asap, get married, enjoy life a lil and then head back over to costa rica for the big ceremony. but i don't wanna cut it too close. maybe if he has his visa by april, we can try that? i'm preparing the majority of his required documents for the application... do you know how long it usually takes for them to receive that and set up an interview? i read somewhere that it may take a whole month to actually get an appointment for the medical exam! thanks again!
