I had my interview for my k1 visa at Delhi embassy on 08th of feb and CO issued white 221g form. In this form they asked me to submit Birth certificate affidavit because my name was not mentioned on my birth certificate.

I submitted the affidavit the very next day. My question is what are my chances for getting the visa ? How long this process is going to take. Please help me or give me any suggestion. I will be really thankful to you all.

It will take some time to get your papers with the case and have them review it.. prob about 2 weeks or so.. and if they don't have any other background checks to do they should issue the visa within the month. If they do background checks it could take a little bit longer.

I think you guys are worrying and stressing out too much about this. You seem to have a very straightforward case and your 221g did not request any additional evidence as proof of your relationship.

The 221g stated a simple problem that had a simple solution. You acted quickly and submitted what they needed and you should have the visa in hand very soon.

If you don't hear anything soon then call the consulate and see if they have any updates. Good luck with the rest of your journey! Keep posting updates! good.gif

I am the petitioner.

Birth Certificate and all the things in it is a very important piece of document and is mentioned several times in various instructions (Packet 3 and Packet 4). If that was the only thing [information] missing and you submitted that, it will probably take 1-2 weeks. As the other poster said.. if they start to do name changes it will take additional weeks. Unfortunately, there is not firm timeline that you can go by and they won't tell you what they are exactly doing other than "Administrative Processing". Did they keep the passport?

Good new is that they have not denied the visa. It will just take a few weeks to get it once they do the things that they need to do.
