the medical should be done no sooner than a week before the interview or no longer than a month prior to it.

you definitely can accompany her to the interview. i heard at the Manila Embassy it's about 10% accompany their Fiance/spouse. it would be up to the CO whether you sat beside her or off to the side.

at the medical at St lukes, no one will be able to go inside with her.

Hi all. I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere, so sorry if I'm duplicating efforts. I think our interview in Manila will be somewhere in the December to February timeframe. I just returned from Phils, and so am naturally already planning my next trip! I have a couple questions for those of you who have already been down the interview path . . .

First, should I, or do I, go with Evelyn to Manila when she has her interview, or does she go alone?

Second, is the medical in Manila, and can it be scheduled at approximately the same time as the interview so that we could make a single trip?

Finally, how soon after the interview completes can we expect the visa in hand? When she is ready to leave Phils, I would go there to bring her back to the states, and I imagine this would have to be a separate, later trip from the interview, right?

Thanks!!

Bowhunter, I attended both my Fiancee's tourist visa interviews in Manila. Both were denied, but the point is u can attend, just bring ur passport so they will let u in past the security. U can not sit with ur fiancee' but u can sit in the same room... the waiting area is only separated by a partition and pretty small. We are alos hoping for an interview prior to Christmas but expecting more like Jan. Good luck, Payato

I plan to go to Manila for the interview. My lawyer told me that I would be able to attend the interview and it indeed does strengthen your case. It shows that you were serious enough to travel all the way there and that means something to the CO. Just remember that she is the one getting interviewed and not you. At best you will just sit there and hold her hand while the questions are being asked. At least that is they way it was told to me by others that have gone through it and by my lawyer. Since I haven't been through it yet this is all second hand info and take it at that.

Good luck and maybe we will see each other at the interview!!

My husband insisted on being there for our interview in Frankfurt, even though it is considered an "easy" consulate and denials are very rare.

The consular officer who interviewed us (together) made rather a small talk out of it and even said that being there together for the interview is "the best proof of a valid relationship you can have".

If you can, go!

We have planned if it´s possible somehow for Paula Jo to join me for the interview in Frankfurt/Germany too. What could be a better evidence for an ongoing relationship than both to show up with the consulate? Also it shows how serious this realtionship is.

So if we can work it out somehow we for sure will go to the interview together.

Tourist visas are handled by the nonimmigrant visa section of the consulate. K1s are handled by the immingrant visa section in a different area. For the K1 visa you will be allowed to attend the interview. I sat in the chair next to Marlene during the interview.
