CHICAGO PORT OF ENTRY-FIANCE DOESN'T SPEAK ENGLISH

Hello All,

I am a little worried about my fiance entering the U.S. His port of entry is Chicago, and I have read some nasty reviews about the officers at the port of entry in Chicago. I am concerned because my fiance doesn't speak English, so he won't be able to complete any documents asked or answer questions. If anyone has gone through the Chicago port of entry, can you please tell me the process, so he knows what to expect. Also, will there be any issues if he doesn't speak English at port of entry?

Any response are appreciated.

Thanks.

Why not send him an email that is in English - have him print it out and bring it with him. When he gets to customs have him hand the email over and they can read it - in the email you can ask if they have a translator available or explain that he doesn't know English very well etc.

I have seen people post about doing this on VJ and have success before with it.

Thanks for the response. I've thought about that, but I wasn't sure if it would've worked. Now I am a little relieved.
