you lose your job. thay move overseas you have no control, you collect unemployment, when that runs out you ask for food stamps, your looking for work but can't fine one over 7.50 hour, you can't pay your bills you have no health insurance. and hope no one in the family gets sick.don't stop food stamps, there are a lot of senior citizens living on a fixed income social security, many disable an really count on food stamps,

A family of 3 get $400-$525 per month. (Plus WIC and free lunch at school)

Thats totally subsidizing this family for all their food needs.

That means, everybody pays to feed these people... except themselves.

It's another run-away program, whenever states try to implement even commons sense changes... such as requiring only food which meet a nutritional

standard to be eligable... the Fed says NO.

If Mrs Obama really wants to make some change in the area of obesity, she should spear point change in the food stamp program.

Only in America would the fattest segment and the poorest segment be one in the same.

-Revamp the prograM INTO A NO-FRILLS MODEL.

Basic food stuffs meeting nutritional standards.

OK, I will be the first to step in and admit that for a brief period of time my children and I had used food stamps. I was divorced working two jobs and trying to support my 2 children. The ex was constantly not paying his child support. I needed a little help...and I HATED it. We used the program for 3 months...and it really helped me out. As soon as I was able though, I got off of them.

As much abuse as there is...there is a definite need for them. Unless you find yourself in the position, you just don't understand. BUT that being said, there needs to be some SERIOUS changes to the program. I once knew a woman who lived with her baby daddy and the state didnt know it. She was able to get food stamps and ate things like lobster all the time. At the same time, she was driving around in a brand new car.

There needs to be that safety net for people who find themselves struggling (especially in this economy) but a complete rehaul of the program is needed as well to get rid of the fraud and abuse.

If you only used it for three months, couldn't you have figured out another way to get by?
