Hi, my girlfriend from Peru and I married while she was on a tourist visa. We want to adjust her status and she remain in the states until she recieves her greencard. I talked with an immigration lawyer and he said it is legal for her to stay and adjust her status. I have a couple questions if anyone can help, Do we only send in the forms I-130 and G-325A (one for each of us) to start, with payment? or is everything supposed to be sent in all at once at the beginning? The I-485 Package also, with this payment? I see in the I-485 package needs form I-693 the medical exam? Does this need to be done before it is sent in at the very beginning or is it later after the I-130 approval?

Thanks for any help.

Everything needs to go together - The I-130, the I-485, and all the supplementary forms for each of them. This includes the G-325 (one for the US citizen and 2 for the foreigner if I remember correctly), the medical form, the affidavit of support, and the I-131 and I-765 if you want to apply for the advance parole travel document and the employment authorization document for her.

The VJ guide lists all the documents you need and aldo describes the process step-by-step. Read it through thoroughly and read all the instructions for the forms.

The process as quoted earlier is fairly simple. One bit of advice is get her immunisations record from her Doctors. This took me about a week from a UK doctors (they apparently don't deal with emails! God bless the NHS) but eventually they faxed (I set up a fax to email account free). I did all of mine and it took me about 4 hours after printing, copying, checking etc.
