I'm in a bordering county of the city. There's tons of things to do, what kind of activities or groups are you looking for?

Hi: ) I wanted to do some volunteer work at the hospital or pharmacy but they said they dont need any. It seems like I can't take driving classes until I get my EAD and I think it will be in about a month or smth (I just got my fingerprints done yesterday)... I'd like to find some language groups (German, Italian).. I'd be happy go skating or see the sight with somebody.. it's just that everybody works and I have to stay by myself all the day...

There's always a lot of ads in the paper for companions for the elderly on a volunteer basis. I don't know if that's something you're interested in doing. Language groups you can find on Craigslist or local community college or libraries. Unfortunately most people have to work for economic survival, so you'll find that to be the case in many instances. You may want to also converse with neighbors with young kids, they mostly are willing to pay cash for a few hours of babysitting while they go run some errands or go out.
