Hi,

My fiance and I filed back in May 2011, received I-797 NOA #1 with Receipt Date 3 June 2011 and Notice Date 20 September 2011. The Approval Notice is valid until 19 January 2012. The NVC forwarded the documents to US Embassy in Ankara, Turkey; US Embassy in Ankara asked us for information about a month and a half ago; we responded immediately and finally today they gave us the interview date: May 2012!

What options do you recommend to expedite the process please, specifically to get an interview date closer to the present?

Would it help to transfer to US Embassy in Abu Dhabi, UAE or Bangkok, Thailand or some other country? How can we tell?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Sincerely,

Bijan

The embassy will give you the first available interview. It is probably because they want to have your security checks started and hopefully nearly done before the interview. Moving the interview up isn't going to do much because you are almost certainly going into AP which takes months. You could move the interview to any embassy that was control of interviews of a place you have legal residency at. Do you have current legal residency in any other place ? Moving an interview usually takes a month or more for the package to be sent and the new point of interview will normally take 3-4 months to get to the interview so you might even lose time. At one time Ghana was taking over a year to have open interview slotsm so your wait really isn't that bad.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Hey,

Besides the US, I don't have any current legal residency in any other place. I'm 25 and have been in Washington, DC area since I was 11. Would the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi, UAE or other country give sooner interview date? I am calling and e-mailing the other embassies now to find their response.

Thanks.

Here is what the DOS says about Iran and visas

Iran:

Immigrant visas for residents of Iran are processed at: U.S. Embassy Vienna, Austria; U.S. Embassy Ankara, Turkey; U.S. Embassy Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; U.S. Consulate General Frankfurt, Germany (family-based applicants only); and U.S. Consulate General Naples, Italy.

Nonimmigrant visa applicants who are residents of Iran may apply at any U.S. embassy or consulate that provides nonimmigrant visa services, but should be aware that their interviews may be delayed if a Farsi-speaking consular officer is unavailable.

You would probably have th e best luck at the one mentioned for a immigrant visa as they are probably set up for people from Iran. Germany way be the quickest

Hey,

My fiance and I decided on a new plan to pacify all this frustration. After the new year, I will get a telecommute job, move to Turkey, rent out my place here. She will come to Turkey because she does not need visa to do it. Whenever the US Embassy Ankara, Turkey is ready for interview, we will do it.

Thanks for your help.
