We're October K1 CSC filers too and we would have gotten the greencard around this time too if I hadn't sat on our AOS package for months!

Thanks!! No interview yet, but the EAD/AP are on the way! :)

However, I find ourselves in a peculiar situation since I want the interview letter to show up soon but hoping that the interview will not be scheduled for early January as we will be using the AP to visit Tokyo at that time.

It seems like the interview is scheduled on average one month after the interview notice, so this week is our danger week. The complications seem to never end!

:((

So we had our interview this morning and was told that our case needs a further review. She said she'll "review it later" but that it "looks like you'll have no problem being approved". Obviously this meant I couldn't get the stamp. She also massively confused us saying that they only give stamps in emergencies and that we could travel on the AP and then mail them my passport arrival stamp when I get back to the US so they can make their decision then to avoid the problem of using the AP on an approved decision. She was SO unclear!! We don't know if they're waiting, if they are still going to review it, no idea!! Anyone know what we should do?? We are planning to travel in just 2 weeks on the 21st...so stressed right now :(

Travel on the AP, assuming you have it.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

I do have it, but if I am approved between now and the time I leave, my AP will become invalid and I'll need the GC or stamp. If I had some sort of approval notice, I believe I could get a stamp with an infopass, but the IO was SO unclear about what she is doing. I guess if we don't hear anything, we are safe to go on the AP and then just write a letter to the same field office stating we are home and they can continue with the adjudication (I think that's what she was implying) and if we do get approved (hopefully we'll hear within a week if so) I can get a stamp at an infopass. It's all so confusing and stressful. As always, any advice is helpful :)

I have just checked the case status on the USCIS website and it says "Card/ Document Production: On December 7, 2011, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you.". Okay, so this means I am approved?? Woohoo if it is. I have no emails or anything though yet, what do I need to get the i-551 stamp? how long does one usually have to wait to receive email confirmation after this case status notice? Thanks

Have you logged into your account and added the case # to your portfolio, and then clicked YES for text and email updates? Usually there shouldn't be a delay in getting the email update.

P.S. CONGRATS!

Oh! Well thank you for letting me know, I didn't realise that. Ok, so another question...sorry. Other than my travel confirmation, what can I show the IO at my infopass to get me the stamp? Will they just know I am approved and I wont have to show anything? Thanks for all the amazing information in this thread by the way everyone.

You're welcome.

And I've never had an InfoPass before, so it's not my area of expertise...but I'd figure you can take your NOA1, and when they look up your case # they should see the status? I mean, they must have a way to access your case.

But since card production on your case was ordered today, and your flight is two weeks away, chances are pretty good that you'll have your GC in the mail in time. Just look at other timelines, it rarely takes a full 30 days. I mean, I got my Card Production email yesterday (and a second one this morning) and I figured if I'm lucky I'll have it by the end of next week. Let's hope

Well thank you again for all your advice, it's been great! It would be so amazing if I received my card before I leave in 2 weeks! If not, I'm sure that by the time I have my InfoPass on the 16th I would have enough proof that I was approved (maybe a welcome letter??), or at least they'd see that I have been approved in the system. Good luck with getting your GC promptly too
