Happy New Year everyone!! We arrived in the US on Dec. 29th. POE in Boston was extremely easy. When we arrived there was no one in line at border control and customs. We didn't have to wait at all. The immigration officer took my envelope and passport, as well as my picture and fingerprints. He was very nice and was talking and laughing with us the whole time. He stamped my passport and then I had to go to the secondary screening room for another immigration officer to input my data in the computer. He was not overly friendly but didn't ask me any questions or give me any trouble at all. I waited for about ten minutes and then I signed two papers and had my right index finger fingerprinted with ink. That was it!

All our bags made it and we didn't even have to pay extra for a fifth bag. All in all the whole journey was very smooth and easy... except that traveling for 20 hours with two layovers is pretty boring and exhausting :) I'm still a bit jetlagged and staying up yesterday celebrating New Years until 4 am didn't make it any better  We're with my parents in law in Minnesota right now and are driving on to Montana on Thursday. It's gonna be great to sleep in our own bed again!

I hope you all had a great New Years celebration and that your travels and POE was and will be as smooth as ours! I'm so happy we all made it! It's been a long journey, but we can finally relax now. It's soooo great to be back, I can't even describe how great it is  !!

POE was EASY. Hadrien said they took his papers and entered them in their system (I was waiting outside the room). They asked him what date he got married then they stamped his passport with CR1 visa expires Dec 20th, 2013. We almost missed our flight to LA because we did the POE on our lay-over in Houston, but luckily we're here and happy. Hadrien is adjusting. He is waiting patiently for his green card/social security number. I feel so bad leaving him at home alone, but he is decorating and cleaning and HOPEFULLY trying to find a job.

Good job, Allegra ! We've rescheduled the time of entrance. So, I went to Canada for Orthodox Christmas celebration (January 7th), grabbed some my wife's belongings (including some plants), packed in my car and drove back to Chicago. In Port Huron (Michigan, USA) the BPO just asked me what I was bringing with me and never looked into it. My wife was really happy that the plants were allowed into the USA .

If nothing happens, I'll drive to Toronto one more time within 2 weeks and we'll enter the USA that time at Port Huron - nice and easy POE (compare to Detroit ).

Finally, my wife is in the USA! On Thursday I drove to Toronto: it had been raining pretty hard on all my way from Port Huron/Sarnia (Michigan/Ontario) to Toronto (thanks to God, without freezing). Next morning we packed up and started driving back to the USA. There was a line of cars at POE in Port Huron, so we had to wait for our turn. The officer at booth saw my wife's yellow envelope in the car and asked who was immigrating. I've joked that I was just a carrier . Then we both were directed to go inside of the building: left my car keys, our cell phones, wife's purse in the car (almost like procedures at consulates/embassies), went inside. Nothing unusual, I was standing next to my wife, kidding with officers etc. The only 1 question we were asked (in fact it was addressed to me) - address's confirmation in the USA. And that was it. At the end the serving officer asked us if we had any questions, and I've asked about the terns for GC arrival. He's nicely and professionally explained and also told us how many GC visas they processed that day so far etc.

Really nice and trouble-less POE (compare to Detroit, as I've mentioned earlier), no one cared at all what we were bringing in - even didn't ask about it. My wife was especially so happy on that since she was bringing with her a bunch of plants .

So, it looks like the visa trip is almost over - just need to get GC, apply for SSN.
