"CHEATING" checking your visa status

If you set up an account in I-129 Petition for Fiance(e) https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard/CaseStatus.do of course you can check your status each day.

Example your number is EAC1190276990 I just checked EAC1190276971 which shows completed and they are now working on EAC1190276972 and up... so each day you can track others peoples status and see where your status is..

Really not cheating - just a way to track your visa application better..

Hope this helps : )

unfortunately this just shows me there are literally thousands that have been processed after mine and I'm still waiting. But it is interesting to see the numbers.

thanks for the distraction.

Terri

When you log into the case status web site you are greeted with the following warning:

YOU HAVE CONNECTED TO A U.S. GOVERNMENT COMPUTER. IF YOU ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO ACCESS THIS SYSTEM, DISCONNECT NOW. All attempts to access and use this system and/or its resources are subject to keystroke monitoring and recording. Everyone using this system expressly consents to such monitoring and is advised that if such reveals possible evidence of criminal activity or abuse of authority, the information will be reported to authorities for action. Unauthorized access attempts or use in excess of documented authority may subject you to a fine and/or imprisonment in accordance with Title 18, USC, Section 1030 or administrative penalties or dismissal.

Now, there will probably be no issues with checking a few others' case numbers, but it's not like there is anything to be gained by doing so either.

Word of the day "Guesstimate"

Guesstimate is an informal English contraction of guess and estimate, first used by American statisticians in 1934[1] or 1935.[2] It is defined as an estimate made without using adequate or complete information,[3][4] or, more strongly, as an estimate arrived at by guesswork or conjecture.[2][5][6] Like the word estimate, guesstimate may be used as a verb or a noun (with the same change in pronunciation). A guesstimate may be a first rough approximation pending a more accurate estimate, or it may be an educated guess at something for which no better information will become available.

Check your status every day?!!

I didn't check mine at all during the K1, and when I checked it during AOS it still said 'Initial review' when I had my greencard in hand. So I wouldn't put too much faith in whatever it says there.

Just be patient. You can keep an eye on VJ to see how long it is taking for the service centers to approve people if you are so inclined.

Good luck, I hope you are approved soon :)

Thanks for clarification as to the definition of "Guesstimate", but you did not include USCIS's appended definition: Verb, Whenever the hell they find your petition lying in a damp corner and decide to adjudicate it...

LOL. If you rely on this method then your NOA-2 should be delivered in about 2 hours being that it takes about 20-30 minutes to adjudicate each peition.

Your case will be approved as soon as it is done. Not a moment before, and posters on this site have tried (unsucessfully) for YEARS to figure out the madness that is USCIS.

I wish you luck for your NOA-2. I'd sure like mine also

Your right, maybe the word I should have used was "GUESSTIMATES" Gives couples at least something to gauge their application process. I understand they do not always go in order for different reason.

This is the order that I "get" stuff:

Paper notification/RFE

2 days later, email rcvd telling me that I will get that paper

2 days later-text message telling me that I will get that paper

more days later, updated in the system.

Sooooo... Just hold your breath. It's possibly more practical.

We got our NOA2 on Sept 19, but we didn't know until the 24 because even tho we signed up for that website and the emails, we never got anything until the hard copy. When I put in my receipt # we're apparently still in initial review :bonk:

Currently.... they have issued Ice the incorrect GC and we have tried 4 times to fix it. First time they had us send it to the incorrect address. Second time they said we used an expired form, which was the form they gave us. Third time was "oh sorry we lost the last page, can you send it again?." Fourth time is the gov is shut down. Will this ever be corrected in time for Ice to get the permanent GC? Stay tuned to find out. T_T
