Rape victim liable for child support

Justin Bieber may have been raped and the alleged rapist is suing him for child support. Now, I read the story and the 16 vs. 19 may not really be a huge difference. And I don't really want to come down on Justin Bieber's side here.

But the last line of this article really disturbs me. The lawyer is stating that a victim of statutory rape is still liable for child support. Regardless of what you think about this case, it's really a disturbing idea.

It is very difficult to write laws which will cover every case.

Yeah thats why they need to drop age from the law and then just use age as a 'factor' when in court.

Then you could end up with a case where a 45 yr old guy was doin a 12 yr old girl and some judge factored it in and slapped his wrist.

As a side note, at halloween a neighboring town, sent out notices to all sex-offenders to report to the court house for like 4 hours while the kids would be out in peak hours.

One guy complained he was no child molester, he simply had sex with a fifteen yr old who said she was seventeen....and they are now married with two kids.

Law is a blunt instrument, it's hard enough making consistent rules for your own kids..... let alone society.

the fact that an 18-year old can be charged with stuatory rape of a 16/17 year old depending on the state is absurd and the laws do need to change.

Each circumstance should be a case by case basis and not some "omg - s/he's 3 years older!!! It's a CRIME!!!"
