am so happy we were notified by email on 15th September that our case was approved.

was getting really worried that it was taking ages.

next week i'll be visiting my fiance.

i'm a bit nervous about immigration.

when i get there, what should i say?

do i say i'm visiting my fiance or just boyfriend?

do i say i'm going to check out possible wedding vendors?

or that i'm just coming for a vacation to see my loved one?

do i tell them, i going to see the priest who is marrying us and that we have to take a seminar before getting married?

i will ask my boss to write a letter for me, stating that i will be returning to work.

please can you advise me on the right thing to do.

i don't want anything to jeopardise my visa.

I fly out to see Russ on Friday and I am SO SO SO nervous about immigrations.... its making me almost dread going!

I was planning on saying I am visiting on holiday, and if they ask with anyone I will then say I will be meeting up with my boyfriend. Is this a good idea.... or should I say from the start when they ask why I am there, that i am visiting my boyfriend?

I have a letter from my employer and also proof I own a car in the UK... I am going for 6 weeks too so I am worried they might not allow me bevuase its a long stay.... SOOOOO worried... what should I say??

From the link above:

Here is a set of recommendations if you come to the US to visit your fiance. There is

no reason to be affraid, but remember that the burdon of proof is on you to prove your intentions to return home:

1. Answer all questions that you are asked honestly and directly to the point.

2. Repeat of rule #1; Be honest and do not lie. Be direct and answer all questions asked.

3. Bring along AMPLE proof of your intent to return to your home country. Keep it in your carry on bags and if asked for proof, provide it to the POE officer.

4. Again, Always tell the truth to any consular, port of entry, or USCIS officer. If they ask for more details, answer them as they ask them.

They don't want your life story so don't waist your time. Always answer a "yes or no" question with yes or no and not more than that.

5. Wait for them to ask the purpose of the trip. If asked, be honest and reply with your intentions to visit any friends and/or your girlfriend/boyfriend

that you are engaged to.

6. Remember to bring sufficient clothes and money for the visit. Let them know how long you will be staying Your evidence you provide will also show

things like when you will return to work/school/etc back home.

7. Relax!

8. Remember: there are no guarantees: you may or may not be allowed to enter the U.S.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

I'm visiting my fiance at the moment in the States. I had no problems at all. The immigration officer asked me what the purpose of my visit was and I said visiting my fiance and that the paperwork is taking longer then we expected. I had a statement from my boss but I didn't even need it. By the way I'm from Belgium. I don't think you have to worry, it all went fine in my case...

I don't know. In any case, give honest answers to whatever questions they ask and as bring lots of evidence that you'll be going back to your home country.

Tell them you are going to visit your fiance. They asked me for his address and phone number of where I would be staying. I took lots of ties to Canada with me, but the only thing they were interested in seeing was my return ticket. Good luck and just be honest. :D

Congratulations!

Our petition also just got approved a lot quicker than we thought.

I planned to visit my fiance for xmas and new years, but now since it seems so close that we get the K1 we might adjust our plans.

The embassy here in Dublin (well, the visa hotline) suggested that I should get a visitor visa at the embassy instead of traveling on the visa waiver. They told me, that way I won't get any trouble from immigration.

Cheers

When i went to the US in july the guy at the passport control did not even ask me for my return ticket, or any question about the purpose of my trip, so i was actually disappointed.

I was scared cause my POE was Philadelphia, when i was actually going to Baltimore and nothing was asked. I was staying for two months, i have no job in Spain or anything to prove that i would be coming back...i am not saying i should have been asked and denied entry, but if it is passport control there should be some kind of control.

But it is just much easier blaming the illegals for everything, instead of recognizing some people dont do good at their jobs either. Dont get me wrong, illegal immigration is a big problem for the US, but if you cannot do anything about the root of the problem (people leaving their countries) do what it is in your hands (immigration control)

This being said, i would not worry too much, my first time in the US (POE Miami) i did not even know the address of the hotel we were staying in, just the name, so that is what i put on that green form, i guess it depends on the person you have to deal with, so just be honest :)

Tell him no one would be as idiot as to stay illegally or do anything stupid in your fiance's country after having gone through part of the visa hell already lol

Good luck, and i hope you have a nice stay!

~maria

I forgot to add a big CONGRATS! for your approval :D
