Hello all,

I recently submitted the I-129F application package in mid to late August of this year and received the NOA1 less than a week thereafter. In trying to be proactive about this process, I acquired a letter from my employer (stating my employment terms, salary, etc.) and proof of funds for the I-134 affidavit of support.

According to the visa journey timeline, however, the estimated date of NOA2 receipt is late December to early January. My question is simply this: did I "jump the gun" and collect these items too early or does it matter? I just didn't know if the immigration officer that conducts her interview at the consulate will want more recent evidence.

Thanks!

It's always best to have any fiancial evidence be as close to the interview date as possible.

For starters there is no guarantee that you'll have your interview scheduled right after the NOA2. You might not have your interview until March for instance, and then you're looking at a 6 month difference in time to where you employment/financial situation might have changed.

It's best to wait until you have your NOA2, packet 3 submitted and packet 4 before you collect the letter from your employer and your bank account information. A general rule for anything that they will want to look at, is that it needs to be within 30 days of your interview date. This goes for financial proof, letter of intent, etc.

Yea you did jump the gun. But at least your getting yourself familiar with what is needed once you recieve your NOA2. I too sent mine in August and Iam not expecting a NOA2 until January Febuary the lastest. At at that point is when I will start gathering this information of what until you at least have a interview date or when your fiance/e turns in their packet 3 to embassy to start collecting the following information. Goodluck to you!
