A potential problem?

Hi guys,

Today we received an email from USCIS saying" On August 8, 2011, the post office returned the notice we last sent you on this case I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION as undeliverable. This may have serious effects on processing this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update your mailing address for this notice to be re-sent"

First I'm confused why it wasn't delivered since we haven't changed our address and we got the NOA 1 for I 765 on the same address. Ok so we called the number above and the customer service rep was kind and she said that the letter might be the biometrics appointment but she didn't know for sure and said she will send a request so they will re-mail the letter. She also said that it might take up to 30 days for the letter to come through in which case if it's the biometrics appointment we might miss the date...

I'm wondering what can we do? Can we somehow find out the date of our biometrics appointment without the letter? I mean it wasn't our fault that the mail was not delivered...

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot!

Contact the post office and talk to your mail carrier. Sometimes they won't deliver if your name is not on the mailbox. Is it on the mailbox?

Schedule an infopass. Unfortunately, this happens sometimes. I searched the board when this happened with my husband's AP (even though address hadn't changed, everything else was delivered, etc.) and apparently there is no rhyme or reason to why things aren't delivered sometimes.

Thanks a lot for your help guys. I ended up calling the 1 800 number and the customer service reps were nice, they transferred me to a tier 2 operator and they told me that my appointment is for this coming Monday and I should call them tomorrow so they can fax me a copy of the biometrics appointment letter which works out pretty great actually..

This happened to us with the EAD application notice. Fortunately the BIO appointment letter was received without any problem. I called the USCIS 1800 number and with the wife present so she could authorize me to talk to them, I found out it was an I-797 for the EAD and they would mail me another copy. I then went to the postoffice and asked ####### is going on. Is her name on the mailbox? Somethings carriers return mail if they do not recognize the name. So I put a note in the mail box to deliver all mail addressed to my wife. Have not had a probelm since. I think it was the substitute carrier, but make certain the postoffice and carrier knows who lives at that address so the rest of the USCIS documents get delivered.

Good luck,

Dave
