I tried to find a significant date 5o years before Our independence, but all I could come up with was

The industrial Revolution.

The US independence was recognized in the treaty of Paris signed on Sept 3rd 1783 so I'm thinking maybe

we could make the first week of Sept Independence week.

In order to avoid deportation to another forum I should say that

it was very generous of the Americans to Free the Philippines on July 4th so they could share Our Independence Day
