A month after NOA2 and still hasn't arrived at NVC?

My fiancee received the NOA2 about a month ago and was told to give NVC a call after about 2 weeks. I gave them a call after 2 weeks and checked my case number and it says they still haven't received it. I thought no big deal.

I then gave them a call today after a month and still says they don't have our case number. I know I got the case number right because I've checked and it says "Post Decision Activity" and under it it says "On June 23, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."

So I was just wondering about other people, how long did it take for them to have your case number. Sorry if I'm asking a stupid question but you all know how you start to feel after a long time, we're up to 7 months now and I just want to get back there, any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Mine took exactly 31 days before they received it. You are just there hopefully you will hear good news early next week.

Sorry, what I meant by putting the number in was:

The one that tells you how far along the process is.

Ahh thank you very much... Like I said it's my fiancee that has the NOA2 so I haven't got a chance to look at it and let's say she isn't the best at letting me know about stuff or doing stuff :P I'll be sure to ask her what it is.

Okay so I'm talking to my fiancee now and I'm really confused because it's an NOA2 and instead of saying it's gone to NVC it says it's been forwarded to the consulate. I thought the NOA2 was supposed to send it to NVC not the consulate, I guess that would explain why they haven't got my number on there anymore. Also my number is the same in NOA1 and 2.

I am on the IR-1/CR-1 side.

It took a month for NVC to receive my case and another 10 days to enter it into the system to generate a new NVC case number.

There is a current backlog at NVC and it started right after the July 4th weekend.

This is what the form says.

The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about visa issuance, or if you would like them to forward the petition to a different consulate. The petitioner can also file for I-824, application for action on an approved application or petition, with this office to request that we notify another consulate of the petition of approval for visa processing purposes. THIS FORM IS NOT A VISA AND MAY NOT BE USED IN PLACE OF A VISA.

When the person this petition is for enters the U.S. based on this visa, he or she will be admitted for ninety (90) days in order to marry the petitioner, and based on that marriage file for adjustment to permanent resident status on form I-485. The form to apply for adjustment of status can be obtained at any local USCIS office or USCIS form center. Please attach a copy of this notice to the adjustment application when you file it.

If the petitioner and the fiance(e) do not marry within these 90 days, status will expire, and he or she will be in violation of the Immigration and Nationality act if he or she does not depart. An extension can not be granted. It is requested that the petitioner informs his or her local USCIS office if he or she determines that the marriage will not take place within the 90 day period. Please attach a copy of this notice to any correspondence about this case.

This letter has caused confusion for a lot of people. Your case goes to NVC first regardless of what the letter says. As another poster said, there is currently a backlog at NVC, and cases are taking around a month to be received and entered into the system. If you call tomorrow (and talk to a person) with the number on your NOA2, they will hopefully have a response for you. Most likely it has been forwarded on to the consulate by now, and if not it will hopefully be on its way soon. Good luck!

Some instances it does get sent straight to the embassy as well.

Call NVC or DOS to get and update as to what is going on with your file.

Ours took 17 days.. recieved noa2 on 7/12/11 & NVC recieved it on 7/29/11 and gave us our new case number...it should be at the embassy sometime this week. Our Noa2 also said they would be "forwarding it to the consulate"...but remember every case must go through the NVC first... I think California center has been slacking in sending the cases to the NVC. My case was sent from Vermont center in case you were wondering...hopefully yours gets there soon...17 days was frustrating enough... sorry you have to wait so long. Goodluck!! Keep calling them :)

You are so lucky!

We have been waiting until today since 7/12 upon approval of NOA2, but no news... We need to push more of follow ups of what's going on between USCIS & NVC. The last we heard of them (NVC) was they have not received the documents yet!

Good luck on your process... ;)
