So we got the packet 4 on 7/12/2011 with the interview date of August 9th in Amsterdam. My fiance lives in Rotterdam and has been there since she turned 18 going to college and working. Since she was in Curacao since she was born until 18, they need a police certificate from Curacao, her native country. We contacted them on 7/13/2011 and they stated it will take a entire month for them to get it together! WoW! Why does it take it so long? She has a clean record in both countries. Anyone ever experience this before when it will take over a month to get a police certificate from another country? I guess we should go ahead and call the Amsterdam consulate and inform them that it will take time so they can reschedule the interview. Any advice is appreciated.

They do things at their own speed out there in the Antilles. Call the consulate. Shouldn't be a problem to reschedule and I am positive that this isn't the 1st time they've encountered this problem. You'll be fine!

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Thanks for the reply.

I will contact the consulate.

No problem and this won't be a problem for you guys.

..Maybe it won't take a full month?

Anyway-off topic but a heads up on the AMS consulate ( and others?) don't take the paperwork and stuff to the interview in a briefcase or anything like that. They won't let you take the briefcase in there and they get rather nasty about it at the door. Just carry it all in a folder. Good Luck and as far as the Police certificate-they'll be no problem. They know that the folks out there in the Caribbean do NOTHING quickly. :)
