So, just a question. I'm still waiting for our NOA2 (month 4)...but a friend who is going through the process and is 5+ months contacted her congressperson as to the hold up at VSC. The congresspesron gave some good information - but also said that if you have a military background this could slow down the process as more checks are needed. Is this true?? Aren't background checks done on military servicemen & woman while they are in the service? Why additional checks?

I'm just wondering because my fiance was in the Royal Marines - does this mean our approval could be delayed due to additional background checks needing to be run??

Oooooo this process is testing my patience!!! ;)

My husband is USC in the military and we had no hold ups or slow processing. Actually its been quite fast for K-1 and AOS turn around. I'm curious to see if ROC will be as fast as the other 2 were.

I would only assume that if it was the foreign person who was in the military it MIGHT slow things up because they need to check on things like that a little more closely from being in the military for another country. But then again there was another Canadian on VJ who was in the military in Canada and they had no issues with the K-1 process.

At the time of filing and throughout our whole K1 process, my finace was a part of the British Army (Lifeguards).

Honestly - nothing seemed to take any longer for us than it did for anyone else when we were filing! (in fact, I'm quite pleased with how everything worked - timeline below)

The only thing that was 'different', I suppose, was that my other half needed to show some paperwork at his interview providing his discharge date (1st April 2011) 'cos he was still 'active' at the time.

You are getting terribly antsy and obsessed. (I've been reading your daily posts.) I'll tell you my trick to get approval when I was like you. Stop checking your case status every hour and trying to figure it out. Force yourself to get off VJ or looking at case status for one week. Magically your approval will come while you're not looking.

"A watched pot never boils" --origin unknown

The exact origin of the phrase is unclear, but the meaning is very clear indeed:

A pot of water is going to boil in exactly the same length of time whether or not you watch it, but if you are so impatient that you need to keep watching in the hope it will boil more quickly it will seem to take forever to come to boiling point.

The phrase, "A watched pot never boils" contains a warning against giving in to impatience; it'll do you no good at all and will only serve to make you and those around you uncomfortable.

Of course, if you occupy yourself with something else while waiting for the pot to boil, it will be boiling away like mad before you know it.

(F)(L)(F)(L) All the best to you!! (L)(F)(L)
