Hi all:

I am going to hire a driver to take my fiance to her K1 interview in Manila in August. I want the driver to wait for her somewhere NEAR the US embassy, so that when she is done she can just hop in the car and return home to her place in Makati.

Does anyone know where the driver might be able to wait for her for several hours (maybe park at a hotel or something) so that she can find him easily after her interview is completed?

Of course she will not have a cell phone with her so she cant just call the driver after the interview is over.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Mitch

Hey Mitch,

Having visited the Philippines as many times as I have, and having lived there for over 2 years, I can tell you there's no need to hire a driver for this. I could understand the need to have a driver take her there, but even then, I'm certain every cab driver in the city knows where the US embassy is located. Once she's done there she would easily find a cab once she steps outside the embassy.

If you would still prefer to hire a driver, there are plenty of hotels in the immediate area where the driver could park. Of course, as I'm sure you know, this will cost extra.

If this is moved to the Philippines forum, you may get more responses. Like the previous poster said, if your fiancee is staying in Manila, then Taxi's are the easiest way to get around. The only time I rented a driver (through my fiancee, a friend of the family) was getting to and from the airport, and when I took the family on an extended excursion for the day to overlook Taal and picnic at Tagaytay.
