NVC schedules interviews during the second week of the month for the next month. Mumbai also schedules during the last week of the month but those dates are NOT for the next month but rather, the month after.

For example, my case was completed towards the end of March, so my interview was scheduled for May, not April.

Thats exactly what I had mentioned in one of my earlier post Hitu should be worried if he was not on September list since his case was completed in July.

I'm hoping I can get a case complete by the end of August.

It would be nice to get a mid October interview date and have my wife here around November 1.

I currenmtly have Mumbai but likely to be move to Chennai. Any ides on how Chennai does the scheduling - Hopefully I may get my case completed in mid August. Thanks.

How can you pick Embassy of your choice? Isn't it based on beneficiary's state of birth/residence in India?

NVC made similar mistake in our family case, when we moved to US in 1998 - gave Mumbai instead of Chennai and we went to Mumbai. We were questioned why we cam to Mumbai instead of Chennai but then they gave us our visas then.

Ironically now they made the same mistake for my wife . Once bitten twice shy, I called NVC and they said that it will be corrected (will take 10 - 15 days) but asked me to continue with the process using the BMB case number, as the Invoice Identification Number will not change. I am not sure if they may mess up something later after the change (I am sending my AOS docs tomorrow using the BMB Case number).

DOS also says similar to what NVC operator says. Case is in queue for interview ( Don't know how long is the queue ??!!!! ). I called DOS twice last week and once this week. Response I am getting from NVC and DOS is same.

No info. from NVC till now. Feel like waiting since ages !!!

same boat here, what is going on here, why such huge delays in getting a interview date? shouldn't the IR1 and CR1 take priority over other interview appointments like tourist visas, business visa etc?

IR-1/CR-1 visas fall under the Immigrant Visa department while tourist/student visas are assigned to a separate Non-Immigrant Visa Department.

Hi, Historically mumbai schedule half of interviews in last week of month but this time in no interview schedule.....do you have idea that they schedule at beggining of month...certainly they schedule in middle of month as well...any light...

It seems to me that Mumbai consulate is starting to fall behind on interviews as they are building a new consulate currently. I would not be surprised if they have started diverting more and more cases to the other consulates/embassy throughout India.

I read the local papers back home. How reliable some of those sources are I do not know as some newspapers in India are comparable to Tabloids here in the Western World.
