NVC March filers still waiting

This is not accurate. When contacting the NVC, they will inform you that the petition can take up to 15 working days from the date of the NOA2. In addition, going through this process myself at the moment and having filed in February at the CSC, it took from the 27th May to the 13th June for NVC to receive my petition before then sending it onto the embassy. Therefore, the documents are not always with the embassy within 2 weeks from the date of NOA2. From various postings on this topic, there does appear to be a hold up of documents going from the CSC to the NVC.

Also (and I can only talk about the UK here), the NVC case number is necessary for booking medicals, etc., and the USCIS number is not accepted.

OP - you may want to check with your country's embassy as to which number they will be expecting you to use when contacting them re: medical and interview - the NVC number (which I think is the more normal one) or the USCIS number. I know it can be a trying time, but it does sound like your case is on its way.

L

I completely agree with this post. Depending on the Embassy, the process might vary. However NVC pretty much has the same kind of process. There may be a little variation between countries. As you said, you need to have the case # to set the appointment for the med exam. I also found out the embassy at my country call the beneficiary to collect the packet and show up with all documents at the time of the interview. I found my friend's fiancée suppose to send packet 3 in order to set up interview appointment. Getting back to the topic, for the majority of the countries, NVC has to assign the case # and forwarded to the US embassies abroad. As the topic title indicates, June NOA2ers' are falling behind from getting the petition in the NVC system. I hope we will get good news soon. Keep in faith.

Petitioner may find out their NVC number by calling NVC. This is useless though as it never comes up.. Everything can be determined even at the embassy stage using WAC number on I129F petition. Trust me, I went through the entire process this year...

So San Diego are you saying that the embassy will accept the original number on the I-797 rather than the NVC number?

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere, and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

There are many threads going on now about the California CSC -> NVC delays. The best way to see the backup and get an idea of how long it will take yours to reach the NVC (assuming you are unable to get them to send it on day 15) is to look at the IR/CR-1 NOA2s that are monitored more carefully than the K-1s..

Here is the link:

http://www.visajourn...p7=All&dfile=No

(ignore the first three entries)

Sort it by NOA2 Receive and you can see that there are ten pages before the first person that has a NOA2 has heard anything from the NVC. Right now it looks like they are up to 6-13/6-14 for NVC recieve or about 20 business days... NOA2s are currently being reported at about twice the rate of NVC recieves are being reported..

I'm sure they will get back up to speed soon enough but at the current speed.. I am looking at another two weeks (NOA2 on 6/20) unless my email to NVC worked and California USCIS really did mail my papers like they said they did... That would put July 1st NOA2s at an additional two months (into september) for NVC recieve.. Sad! I am sure CSC will pick up the pace well before then but it really sucks right now...

Who knows.. Next week they could bulk send the whole shlab of them to NVC and this will all be over ;)

Once you receive NOA1 realistically NVC will receive it within a week and will turn it around within 2 days. Basically, realistically speaking, within 2 weeks your documents ARE already at the embassy. What happens than is that embassy conducts background check before contacting beneficiary.

This is not true. I contacted the embassy just this week and they have no record of our case yet. According to your statement, they would have received it two weeks ago. There IS a lag from USCIS to NVC at this time.

K-1 Journey:

3/30/2011 - NOA1

6/17/2011 - NOA2 (79 Days)!

7/19/2011 - NVC Assigned Case # and Sent to Embassy

7/25/2011 - Embassy Received

7/26/2011 - Packet 3 Picked Up

7/27/2011 - Medical Exam

8/03/2011 - Interview: APPROVED!

8/10/2011 - Visa Received

8/26/2011 - POE (together at last)

9/02/2011 - Wedding! <3

AOS Journey:

09/12/2011 - Mailed AOS, EAD & AP

09/16/2011 - NOA1

10/13/2011 - Biometrics

12/08/2011 - Interview: APPROVED!

12/16/2011 - Greencard Received

As far as I understand NVC and USCIS are totally different entities working in different jurisdiction; that is why they required changing the numbers and specifically stated on the NOA2 that the USCIS concluded working on the petition and forwarded to the State of Department NVC. There will be association in between receipt # and a Case # for the reason of tracking the petition and to serve their customers in a better and faster ways. So I don't think the USCIS receipt # works with NVC and for the matter of fact, it is not the embassies that issue the case #. It is assigned by NVC.

Thanks

Thanks Love Eth, Yes I understood that the NVC # replaced the USCIS # after the approval (which we are waiting on). I thought this might mean we could book the interview with the USCIS# as soon as the approval comes through, or within a few days of it to avoid delays since we have timing issues. San Diego has said that his whole process went through using this number. I haven't heard of this before.

On K1 there is no NVC letter. Next your fiancee will be contacted by the embassy.

There is a NVC letter on K-1s.....Unless something changed in the past couple of months when I got mine (also K-1), which among other things, gets you the case number (not the USCIS number but a new one that is what the Embassy will use)

On the other side, NVC saying they don't know about your petition might be because they only seem to log things when they are about to ship out the petition. If they are backed up, it would make sense that they say that. If they are going to contact USCIS on your behalf, is fine, but maybe one way to go is to find out from NVC what/when were the last cases they received form the service center your petition was.

Yes, it sucks to wait...we still are, though the interview is next week finally...after filing in mid November of last year, and having petition at VSC

Edit after posting: just saw you have NOA2, which is definite 'proof' that USCIS sent things out, so my guess is that is sitting at NVC until is processed and then logged at about ship time....

no.. CSC is not sending the NOA2 paperwork in a timely manor to the NVC right now.. They are sending the NOA2 to the petitioner and then sitting on the paperwork.

I think that is what happening at the USCIS. After I sent the copy of the NOA2 to NVC, they did the research and found out today the petition is on the way to NVC. Within 5 days, it is 1 month since I received NOA2. I hardly believe the NOA2 claims that USCIS sent the petition right away after the approval.

; Usually, the petitioner will receive a letter from NVC stating that they have forwarded your petition to your Embassy/Consulate.

Call them every single day, if not 10x a day to find out what is going on... Sending them an E-mail isn't that effective as calling them.

Maybe you can also call your Embassy/Consulate and ask if they received anything from NVC.

Good luck & hopefully you'll hear somthing soon

There is no letter on K1. On K1 petitioner gets the following:

NOA1

NOA2

This is it.

Next Beneficiary gets the package from the embassy about 1 month after NOA2. So, do not expect any correspondence from NVC if you are filing for K1. In K1 process NVC is just a pass-through organization. Embassy is the one that next handles everything as opposed to CR1.

Well, don't know about everyone, but I did recieve a letter from NVC. Of course it was dated three days after the NVC had sent it to the embassy.
