Cetification of Joint Lease

Is there any couple here who are renting but not tied up in a lease contract?

The reason being is that my husband and I are moving out of this little apartment we are right now . Our landlord and us never signed anything nor put the agreement through black and white. They are very old couple and they normally don't do contracts. But we need some sort of paperwork stating that we have been residing in their apartment for X amount of years and months for our ROC next month.

Do you guys have any suggestions what would be a great move for this? or even sample maybe of Certification of lease? I've searched online for samples and I couldn't find any strong candidate in our category.

Thank you!

it seems to me like they are avoiding any paperwork that would lead to them avoiding taxes on that rental income.

Ask the landlord to write an affidavit stating how long you've lived there together.

I don't think so Charles. Its just they don't want to deal with so much BS in terms of cancelling lease and stuff. They said, if anyone wants to move, they are free to go anytime. They have more than 5 rental apts and houses. All of them are pretty much the same rules.

Did you get rental receipts or have copies of cancelled rent checks?

No Bob. We pay our rent in Cash.

I think this would be the best way.. But I have a follow up question,

Say they right an affidavit stating that we've been living here for x amount of years, Do you think the paperwork can also be considered as one of the 3 affidavits from people that has knowledge of our marriage?
