Email confirmation but no NOA1 hardcopy in the mail

Hi everyone,

We filed the I-130 and supporting documents on 24th May and received email notification of acceptance. We are in 'Initial Review' on the USCIS website, and the case was touched on 28th May. However, we never received the NOA1 hard copy in the mail despite being on the lookout for the postman - or woman....;-)

The question is - Do we need to have the NOA1 hard copy at all for the coming steps? Is there a way to request a 2nd copy in case we ever get asked for it? We do have the receipt number WAC xxxxxxxxxxx from the email.

Thanks!

you received the E.mail with WAC.......number so you know that your 1-130 was received, possible the noa-1 was lost in the mail, it's good to have the noa-1 to keep a record and date of your receipts,if you have relatives in the future that want to come to the us you can use the noa-1 copy to petition, 1-130 and the noa-1 if not the you don't realy need it.it you want one call the 1-800 number tell them you never received one please send me a new one.

You will not need the NOA1 for any upcoming steps in your process but if you would like one for complete records you could try calling USCIS to request a replacement. When we submitted our petition in 2008 we did not receive a NOA1 either. We did call USCIS and were told the they would not issue a replacement but would send a letter confirming receipt of our petition and reconfirming our receipt number. Good luck.

Since you have your USCIS case #, NOA1 serves no purpose other than give you satisfaction of having one. The NOA2 (approval) is valid till the case is transferred and entered into the NVC system. beyond that it also doesn't serve any purpose.

However the copies of the I-130, DS-230, I-864 do have value till the Interview. I suggest that you start planning on the requirements of the DS-230 and I-864 - like getting your IRS Tax Transcripts and other requirements. Try to get the PCC a little closure to your estimated time of approval, as those have validity. You can first start getting familarized with the process involved after I-130 approval to start with. VJ is a good place to do that.
