hey folks, I've been reading all over this site since I started the K-1 visa process last year, but there's one thing I'm still a bit foggy on. Vaccinations for my fiance in the Philippines and her vaccination records. My fiance went to what she said was her health center in her hometown to get her vaccination records, she was told that her records were lost. does she HAVE to have the vaccinations before getting her visa or can we take care of that when she gets here before doing the AOS? Thanks and sorry if this info was somewhere I should have seen alrewady, lol :-)

thanks!

thank you for the reply but yes I know the medical screening is done prior to the interview, what I am asking is, are the vaccinations mandatory for the med screening or can we take care of that after my fiance gets here stateside.

Your fiancee can go do her Medical exam right around when you receive NOA2,She has to pass the medical before her interview. She will get the shots that she'll need during her Medical Exam at St. Luke's. I myself didn't have vaccination records when I went there, Doctors will conduct a vaccination interview before giving the shots,I had 4 shots. She'll get a copy of vaccination records and x-ray copy once test results are released.

Same situation here. Mav has no Medical Records since lost/destroyed over time.

St. Lukes will give the as above "Mandatory Shots" and rest administered State Side.

I post indicated a while back to GET ALL the Shots you can while at Saint Lukes because the Cost is Included in your Medical and could be quite expensive here for the same Shots.

I don't have a full list myself, so i rang the doctor and asked about the following :

If she doesn't have any records they can actually do a bloodtest to test her immunity to all the things she needs to be vaccinated against. If she was previously vaccinated antibodies will show up in her bloods.

This test will apparently get taken care of at her medical examination if needed :)

According the the state.gov website - No, you don't have to get vaccinations for the K1 Visa, just for the AOS. Tim/Mav mentioned that this option would be more expensive though.

From http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html#7:

"K visa applicants are encouraged to get the vaccinations required under U.S. immigration law for immigrant visa applicants. Although such vaccinations are not required for K visa issuance, they will be required when adjusting status to that of legal permanent resident following your marriage. Applicants are therefore encouraged to fulfill these vaccination requirements at the time of the medical examination. See Vaccination Requirements for IV Applicants for the list of required vaccinations and additional information."

"Tim/Mav mentioned that this option would be more expensive though." I thought it would be cheaper to have them done here because she will be on my med insurance after we get married.

The CO at the embassy has the final say. Check in the PI regional forum to learn if they will grant the visa without proof of the vaccinations.
