There was a breakdown of Tier 1 vs Tier 2 humans, at the ombudsman's office portal - was very descriptive and informative - I kept the url in my notes section here, used to paste it into posts for those needing a Tier 2.

Alas - it moved sometime in the last 6 weeks, I not catch it till last weekend -

The old url (broken/dead) was http://www.dhs.gov/xabout/structure/gc_1221837986181.shtm#5

The new one is http://www.dhs.gov/files/publications/gc_1305658440339.shtm

So if yer chasing a Tier 2 Human, an ISO - please use that new url, get some backgrounder before making the call.

(my apologies if someone else posted this earlier)

Good Luck !

Good Luck !

Thanks for the useful info Darnell. You appear to be somewhat the USCIS customer service expert here - could I ask an opinion? Our paralegal stated that when they called USCIS they were told a specific week when we could expect to hear something back (within 3 weeks of the call). Sounds to me like BS on part of the lawyer since I've never heard of USCIS telling anyone "you should hear something the X week of X month." Even a tier 2. What are your thoughts?

2010/02/09 - fiance returns passport with visa to embassy

2010/03/09 - embassy tells us we are in "administrative review"

I've been getting 'this feeling' that answers with specific stuff , like your answer, depends on how far past the 'posted times' the casefile really is. Other than that, sorry, I be clueless.

When I spoke to a Tier 2 person Monday, I was told that I would get a letter in a week. I have no idea what the letter is about, but that is what she said. I hope it isn't like the last one. 6 more months in background checks.

wow, well i hope it's good news! (if the letter does in fact materialize). But considering how far both of us are beyond normal processing maybe we have reached the point where they actually really look at the case and give genuine information...

I sure hope so, but I have no faith in this process anymore. As if they hit a snag and just put your file in the dead file until you can reach someone who cares at USCIS or get a Congressman involved. I just do not understand.

The process sucks bigtime once you've ended up in the "pile", that's for sure. I have still not lost hope that at some point dumb luck will catch up with us. But we have set a deadline to give up on the U.S. At some point you just have to live your life.

Don't let the discouragement take over. Be strong! Each day brings a resolution closer.
