I-134 London Specific Income questions

Hello, trying to prepare ahead of time and I have a few London specific questions for the affidavit of support.

1. Can I include child support in my income? If so how do I put it in the form. I have the court orders and both children receive a considerable child support amount.

2. Does the amount you have in savings deduct from the required yearly poverty income? IE if I have $5000 in savings can I subtract that from the income needed?

3. My mom is going to joint sponsor my fiance, does she have to show income for just her and him?

Thank you

1. Can I include child support in my income? If so how do I put it in the form. I have the court orders and both children receive a considerable child support amount.

Yes. There's not really a line for it. You could attach an additional page itemizing your income--

Yearly income

$20,000 earnings from XYZ Inc., Smalltown, AZ

$12,000 child support

$32,000 TOTAL yearly income

Send evidence of receiving it---court order, deposits going in to your bank account...some proof.

2. Does the amount you have in savings deduct from the required yearly poverty income? IE if I have $5000 in savings can I subtract that from the income needed?

It works like this example:

$20,000 needed

$15,000 income

$5,000 shortfall x 3 = $15,000 needed in assets

3. My mom is going to joint sponsor my fiance, does she have to show income for just her and him?

Mom's income needs to cover how many in her household +1 (the immigrant)

If it's just Mom, then household of 2

Mom, Dad, and your sibling they still support- household of 4 on the poverty charts.

London has been quite lenient on some recent interviewees. One offered a joint sponsor and they said, "we don't need that." - "But I don't make enough." - "It's fine."

Another didn't submit anything but their Mom's stuff because the embassy didn't want an I-134 from the petitioner who didn't qualify. I would prepare everything, but it's going to probably be easier than you think. Also 100% of the poverty guide should be enough for the I-134. However you will be doing the I-864 shortly after the marriage which has the stricter rules you will have to follow, so preparing now for the harder test is wise.

Thank you, your advice is great.

Is there a time limit on support affidavit? My mother is gathering her info now, if we dont get approved till September would that still be ok?

Tina

Order transcripts now, but I'd wait until late August to get an employer letter or "recent" paystubs, as well as signing/dating the I-134. If your timeline prediction holds true, it will likely be Thanksgiving before your interview, which is where the affidavit is submitted. Watch approvals on Igor's list and when CSC approvals are coming in for late May filers, then finish up with more recent proofs of income like paystubs or employer letter. Your VJ timeline predicted petition approval will go up and down depending on other people's timeline data and case loads at the CSC.

You can see on this graph how the time for I-129F approval changes and there's no way to know what it's going to do---continue down or go back up to 150 days.

And the London part changes too.
