Hello all,

My fiance received his passport today in the mail (just 1 week after interview). The Embassy mailed him "the brown envelope" along with his passport. He's not supposed to open it right? I read somewhere here that it should be handed to the immigration officer at the POE. Am I right? Please anyone with more details about it will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks!!!

it contains the entire casefile, including stuff that the US Government added to it.

It must be handcarried throughout the flight, given to an Immigration Official at a USA Port of Entry.

Do Not Open It

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

yes ur right, you are not supposed to open the brown envelope, its for the officer at POE.

Whats in the envelope, thats your ticket to enter US.....lol j/k

Your fiance should have a visa in his/her passport and envelope. When one lands at airport and see the immigration officer their canned question is whts the purpose of visit. You can let them know you are immigrating..... I just did that to get a reaction from officer.

When I told him that he was like huh........ and then I presented him my envelope and we had a laugh.

Thats it they stamp your passport and in your case you will get a I-94 with 90 day validity and that should be it.

OMG do NOT open it. If you open it. It basically voids your one entry visa. I've heard horror stories.

Also...in the envelope is your medical records, your interview results and documentation for entry. If at the medical there is an "issue"...they will tell you right there. I remember at my medical years ago, they pulled some more girl into a room to disclose her communicable blood disease. So sad.
