Good Evening Everyone-

I am always trying to think ahead and try to save some time. I was wondering if anyone who is going throught the K-1 Visa process, in Pakistan, or anywere else could share the thngs that were on the check list from the Embassy?

Also, specific to Islamabad, Pakistan, is there a way to request the Police certificate before getting this cheklist requiring it? If so how and where.

Thanks in advance for any infromation. Like everyone else, the wait is killing me and since it is inevitable that we will go through some time on AP I was thinking of how to save time elsewhere.

You can start here. I would suggest by looking at the top of the website here. Click on portals, select your country and click go. Then click on Islamabad consulate information. It has some info listed there and read about packet 3. Sorry I do not know what you need to do for the police report hopefully somebody who has gone through Pakistan can comment on that. Good luck.

AOS Journey

11-04-2011 sent AOS to Chicago lockbox

11-07-2011 delivered

11-08-2011 Date on text messages but did not receive until 11-22-2011

11-23-2011 Check cashed.

11-25-2011 Hard copies of NOA1s

12-06-2012 Pui's Brother unexpectly passes away and we make an info pass appointment and receive an emergancy AP so she can return home. Pui leaves for Thailand for 2 weeks.

12-06-2012 Get a text message and email that she received an RFE

12-12-2012 RFE for original birth certificate. I swear we sent it along with a certificate translation of it.

12-20-2012 Pui returns from Thailand.

12-21-2012 We send the RFE back for with original birth certificate along with a new certificate of translation(I had to wait for her to return for her to sign)

12-26-2012 text and email they have received the RFE.

12-29-2012 Appointment for biometrics is 01-23-2012

01-13-2012 AP is approved.

01-23-2012 Biometrics appointment. Later during the evening the text and email saying the EAD is approved.

01-31-2012 EAD/AP combo card arrives.

05-22-2012 Email and text card is in production!

Don't know about Pakistan, but in general you should be able to get your police reports anytime, but you should get it close to your NOA2 so that its not too old. You will also need birth certificate, divorce certificate, translations, medical done early enough before the interview for them to get the results by the time of the interview. You will also need the I-134 affidavit of support and supporting documents from the US fiance. Also evidence of ongoing relationship.

My husband got his PCC from Karachi just after we had our noa2 approval. It is valid for 6 months at a time. It only took him a couple of days to obtain it. He will need his identifying information to take with him. NIC card and I'm not sure about birth certificate but maybe that as well. He can go ahead and get it but he has to remember that it has to not be expired by the time he has his interview. If he gets one and its close to interview and close to expiration I would suggest obtaining another one.

Thanks everyone for the replies and the informaiton! I always find this group very helpful. :)

I read somewhere that the police report could take 2-3 months for them to process and get it back to him. From what I have read here, it only takes a few days. I'll wait for him to file for it until after we get our NOA2. I was going to do that anyway but I wanted to try to beat the checklist there so when he got it he could immediately send it back to them marked complete and request an interview! :)
