Oprah's Sad Relief

I received an e-mail from Oprah yesterday talking about feeling sad leaving her show after twenty-five years. She says that each morning she reads parts of Mark Nepo's Book of Awakening. I quote her quoting his book:

"The idea here is not to divert the sadness, but to give it a context from life other than what is making you sad. Just as a ginger can lose its bitterness when baked in bread, sadness can be leavened by other life. When feeling the sharpness of being sad or hurt, it helps to take new things in. This pours the water of life on the fire of the heart."

Yes, we are feeling powerless to reach out and get our NOA2 when we have been waiting for so long, but we are not powerless to find a way to survive this sadness. We need to keep the love alive in joy not in sadness. Most of us are talking to our spouses and fiancee's on Webcam. I am thinking that I want to start finding ways to share my life with him on Webcam more than just talking.

I want to fix a romantic dinner and sit and eat with him in front of the camera while listening to beautiful music.

I want to sit and watch a movie with him and share the laughter. I want to play a game with him and see if he lets me win. I want to read a book with him and see what his opinions are.

Let's take back our power by sharing our lives with the ones we love today.
