Hi guys!

I am getting worried cause NVC told my fiance our petition was forwarded to the US Embassy in Germany on Friday, May 20 and when I contacted the Embassy today, they told me the case has not been received yet. Is that normal? When I look at other timelines it usually takes 3-5 days. I am worried that the petition got lost somehow. :(

It's normal! it's been only a week, nothing to worry about. They say it's been forwarded on the 20th but probably didn't leave the NVC for the next couple days...now it's probably in transit. Even when it reaches the US Embassy, they may still say they don't have it as it might not be in their system right away.

Yeah, I did too. There was a packet sent out to Germany on both Friday and Monday, and both were delivered already. So I dunno. I called NVC and spoke to a very nice lady who told me even 3 weeks would be normal, but well, looking at timelines here it seems to me the usual time is 3-5 days for Frankfurt.

I wouldn't worry - cases are sent in batches (vs individually) so your case may/may-not have left the building on Friday. I would suspect you'll hear something in the next few days - the Frankfurt Consulate is very efficient (no surprise).

I would focus on getting ready for the interview - i.e., prepare for the medical - gather necessary forms etc.

*Monday is a US holiday - not certain if the Consulate is open that day or not.

Ours is in "Clearance Delay" which I understand can last as long a four weeks but is common for our consulate. I think you're fine, these wheels turn slowly.

Wish you the best of luck.

That is why I am surprised, because I have heard that Frankfurt is fast and efficient, so I am surprised that it's not in their system yet. I guess I will call on Tuesday between 2-4PM, and hopefully they have it by then.

I have filled out and printed most forms, have all the information from my fiance (I-134 and supporting documents), have ordered the police certificate a week ago (should arrive next week), I have my birth certificate, and I was thinking as soon as they have my case I will go to the medical, since no appointment is needed in Frankfurt and I can just walk in very early in the morning and get it done with. I already got all necessary vaccinations beginning of this year.

So that's what I'm waiting for right now

While you're waiting :star: - about the birth certificate.

If you haven't already, I would encourage you to obtain the international version of your BC - it is easy (cost 7 Euro I believe) and will save you time and effort once you are in the US and doing your Adjustment of Status.

I am pretty sure I have it. It's in German/French/English, and I got two copies. It says Auszug aus dem Geburtseintrag and Extract from birth registration, listing my DOB, place of birth, name, and my parents' names.

Is that the correct one?

Sounds like it (looks rather plain) - has additional translations on the back too I believe. It just save you the trouble of having to translate it for USCIS in a few months.

The NVC to Frankfurt thing - It'll happen - you'll see (keine angst).

Yep, looks very plain and on the back it has the according translations in detail, from number 1 to 11. I got those last year already, might get another copy just in case? Does Frankfurt keep a copy after the interview?

Thanks, I hope so! (Ich versuch's ;) )

Karin and I both got two and we still have two lol. It would be a personal choice - IMO, two is fine.

Does Frankfurt keep a copy after the interview?

Not likely - not sure they even looked at Karin's. There is/was a copy machine there (not free, of course :P ) if a photocopy is needed.

Thanks, I hope so! (Ich versuch's ;) )
