Why would Sarah Palin buying a house in Arizona make her more likely to run for President? I don't get it. It's not like Alaska is a foreign country.

For months, rumors have circulated in Arizona political circles that the former Alaska governor and possible 2012 presidential contender either was shopping for homes in Scottsdale or had already bought one.

A just-closed deal on a secluded luxury home in far north Scottsdale might fit the bill, and talk has begun that this may be the one.

...

Confirmation of a Palin house purchase in Scottsdale likely would rekindle chatter about whether Palin might run a political campaign out of Arizona, the home state of U.S. Sen. John McCain, who plucked her from relative political obscurity in 2008 to be his vice-presidential running mate.

Palin has been rumored to be considering headquartering her 2012 White House campaign, if there is one, in Scottsdale. She also has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by the retiring Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz.

Palin has made multiple visits to Arizona since the night in November 2008 when, at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa, McCain conceded the presidential election to Democratic rival Barack Obama. Palin's daughter, former "Dancing With the Stars" celebrity finalist Bristol Palin, last year purchased a five-bedroom house in Maricopa.

Now THAT is a halfway reasonable theory.

Also lets her continue to be a lightning rod for the media for a few more weeks.

Except Arizona is not New York, I don't see them voting for a woman that just moved in as their Senator.

But it keeps the media fixated on her and speculating about her future plans and lets real candidates get on with it in relative peace and quiet. Because the media don't want to be believe she won't be running.

The media likes headlines because Americans like headlines. It's why The Donald got the coverage he got although it was absolutely clear to anyone of sound mind that he wasn't running. It's why Sarah continues to be in the news even though everyone that's paying attention knows that she ain't running either.

I think it's at least conceivable that she might throw her hat in the ring and officially declare a candidacy. I also think however that she won't last long on the campaign trail and will be unable to build any kind of organization around a bid. If she does enter, she'll exit before anything really gets going. Remember Fred Thompson? He officially entered the race in Sept 2007 but he was already out of it by Jan 2008. That's about the most that could be expected of a Palin bid.

I suppose there is something of a media ####### quality about her. Any news of a new reality show?

Rather the other way round in this case. The media want to make a story out of her and she's just stringing them along for a little bit, to keep them occupied making fools of themselves. Call it a kind of payback for the muckraking that went on in 2008. ;)

Don't be silly, she's not stupid, she reads publications. All of them.
