Hello,

Question 11 seems to be the most difficult question to answer. It states: I __ intend __ do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person(s).

I chose "do not intend" and indicated N/A (K-1 Visa process for permanent resident. It seems most K-1 visa filers answered the question this way because the question was geared towards tourist and their duration of stay. However, I see some answered as "I intend" because their consulate said so and that stating not intend is incorrect. Others in the forum did not check either box but stated K1 Visa for permanent resident.

So, for question 11, am I correct in my answer as not intend? Or, should I not check either box?

The sample form is there as a guide and it is based on thousands of K-1 visas which were approved previously. I would follow what is on the sample form. I've read a few threads here where the petitioner put exactly what is in the sample form and no questions or RFE was brought up regarding this question. Hope this helps...biggrin.gif

Just a question for you are you a permanent resident?

Here is a vote for "intend."

There was a recent thread here on VJ where the consular officer at the U.S. Embassy in Manila gave a beneficiary a bad time during her interview because her petitioner had checked the "do not intend" box. If I remember correctly, her K-1 visa was approved anyway.

What would it hurt to check the "intend" box? You would have the opportunity to add a nice comment below it about how you are going to marry your loving fiancée and are looking forward to providing for her needs. That should put the consular officer in a good mood. :D

Hopefully, petitioners will refrain from checking the "do not intend" box...big no no...Since the petitioner filed for a K-1 visa, it is therefore understood that it is your intention to marry the beneficiary and that you will provide all support necessary...maybe some other members can provide positive feedback on what the result was with checking the "I intend" box...I myself will follow what is in the example form as I've said before because it has been proven to work countless of times.

VJ members, chime in if you've had positive feedback with checking the "I intend" box...then, maybe, VJ can update their sample forms.

Unless your future souse happens to be rich, when he/she arrives would need a place to live, that would be your place. WHile a work permit happens, he/she will not be working, you are providing room/board and covering other expenses. It is likely your job offers health insurance and coverage for your spouse: thus you are providing it. Not seeing how a 'not intend' be applicable.

Besides everything else, why would you want to give the CO an excuse to give you a hard time?

For question 11, I am not able to uncheck the box. I have to pick one "Intent" or "do not intent"

So I am going to use "intent" , and then put line below N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence )
