What to wear for AOS Interview?

My wife and I are not sure what to wear for the AOS interview?

I am pretty sure that shorts, with a muscle shirt and flip-flops woudl be underdressed.

On the other hand, is a suit with a tie (or without tie) the right way to go?

I was thinking of wearing a white searsucker suit, that is sporty and classic (and also does nto look dorky with my brown briefcase).

Any advice? What are the USCIS officers wearing?

Female - New black jeans that fit properly, Black shoes, Collared button down shirt that was a bright blue. Hair done nicely a little make up.

I suggest going with semi dress.

Hubbie hates dressing up so we've compromised; dress shirt, pants and shoes but no tie or blazer. I'm thinking office wear. Dress slacks, button down blouse and closed toe flats - no matter how classy showing toes screams beachwear to me.

I was just wondering why most of you girls wore flats...whats wrong with a nice, appropriate of course, pair of heels?? and whats up with the button down's? You are making me think that the IOs are the most conservative people in the US :D

I think a person should wear anything that's comfortable, appropriate at the same time and most of all something that makes them feel great about themselves and boosts their optimism, cause Im sure it'll be stressful enough...

just saying.. :P

They are being tooooo conservative, people in the US do not dress this conservative unless it's religion related. I wore a sundress with a shrug, and my girl go-to-hxxx sandals (shoes), to show off my sexy legs. Because after we were approved, we were going to party with friends.

But my interview was held in a very professional manner, as if I was the interviewer. Just like another day at the office.

Dress like you would for a job interview.

It has been said before, and that's nailing it on the head. If you would wear a suit when being interviewed for a job, wear one for the interview. It shouldn't be a custom-tailored Versace, rather something a step down from your finest suit, and you shouldn't wear neither the cold-crusted Rolex but the Patek Calatrava instead, but leaving a good impression is always helpful.

If you are picking up a hitchhiker, do you take the guy in the suit or the guy in the stinky blue jeans?

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Unless I don't get an interview until October, I'll be wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Not because I don't want to dress nicer, but because I don't have any nicer maternity clothes, and I can't afford to buy a new outfit for one day only. :P

I do agree you should try to wear something nicer than you normally would, though.

Married since 03/02/2011, AOS from F-1 visa, green card granted 05/24/2011.
Blessed with a healthy baby boy, 08/19/2011! We get to keep our family together! Thank you! smile.png
