Always double and triple check what DOS and NVC humans tell you

Varying levels of operator competence and usefulness are a given.

Our application was sent to Guangzhou April 13th. Until just now, I was under the impression that it was sent by DHL, not electronically.

To get a DHL tracking number and give myself something to make myself feel like I have some control over the Visa Fates, I called DOS today using this handy-dandy guide.

I was pleased to find out that it had been indeed sent electornically, and in fact the P3 had been sent almost a week ago. cool.gifkicking.gif

But I am ticked off that NVC told me it was sent by DHL. I'm going to have to finish out the I-134 tonight and send it out tomorrow, instead of having a few more weeks to handle it. Oh well, what's one more night this week with 4 hours sleep? sad.gif

Also, I was under the impression that case files sent to GUZ electronically got a new GZO case number assigned to them. This is not true for K-1 Visas at least. blink.gif

ya, the NVC starts getting a bit useless after you have a GUZ #, but DoS Hotline will know many things about the casefile once it's left NVC.

Glad you found the list that Dodi and I put together, though -

Maybe can use the P3 shortcut after all? http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/GUZ_P3_Shortcut

Great post!!

I'm still at NVC, so as you suggested, I'll double and triple check what they tell me.

By the way, your timeline says

Packet 3 Received : 2011-05-14

Packet 3 Sent : 2011-06-18

Is June 18th your target date to send in Packet 3 or did you have a typo and meant packet 3 sent on May 18th? :)

I'm following timelines to get an idea of when to expect our Packet 3, etc.

Thank you :)

Bobby, I was told that my file was uploaded electronically to the consulate. I haven't gotten a straight answer yet on if it was solely via SAFEFILE or not. I hope that DHL is not getting involved.

Hopefully in the next day or two I'll have that resolved. :D

Vince, I sure hope our files went electronically because I couldn't find anything going to China in June with DHL tracking. All I found were two shipments in May:

EXP 19 MAY 2011A - shipped out on May 20th, still waiting for clearance in Guangzhou

EXP 05 MAY 2011A - shipped out on May 6th, cleared customs and delivered to the consulate on May 18th.

Vince,

I called DOS this morning at 8:32am EST, I was put on hold for 30 minutes. I gave the nice lady my case number, and she told me Guangzhou mailed out Packet 3 to my fiancee!! I asked her when they mailed it, she said this past Wednesday.

After I hang up, I was too happy to think of anything else but to text my fiancee and tell her the good news.

Later I realized that the DOS lady didn't even ask for our names and DOB's before giving me the information :D So I called again at 11am EST, this time a lady asked for all the details and confirmed that Packet 3 was sent. However, she could not tell me when it was sent :D

So yes, double and triple check, because each "human" handle our cases differently and they may not give the same information each time :)

I better call DOS Monday morning! Our P3 should have been mailed if we follow the same time-frame.

Vince, please call DOS and let us know if the consulate received your file and sent out Packet 3 :) I got my NVC letter yesterday with our case number. Have you received your NVC/DOS letter with case number yet?

My fiancee mailed out her Packet 3 yesterday.

Good luck to you and yours!! :)
